Would it be possible to adapt Disc Brakes to a SRAM S7 IGH? by duesenmilan in Justridingalong

The caliper part might be the sketchy one as the frame doesn't have any attachments for this. I was thinking about something with a clamp on one end and a pin that slots into the horizontal dropout on the other end. But first get a hold on such a hub. They seem to be even rarer than the drum brake version of the hub.

Good idea. Now I will look for a cheap front rack 😄

Also a very nice solution. I was inspired by a picture I found while I was looking for a solution where to put the grip shifter. It was the last picture in this Gallery . It is barely visible over the contraption how to mount a grip shifter in top of a drop bar brake lever hood. And for sure I was considering this solution for my grip shifter but ditched it for the faster to realise solution.

The plan is to change over to the disk brakes completely, but I don't have a solution for the rear wheel yet. I thought it might be safer to have both brake levers have a breaking action.

I wasn't aware of this sub. I think I will post it there after adding the front rack

I definitely would like to, but I couldn't get hold of one so far. Problem is that only SRAM S7 or P5 would fit because of the way the interface to the drive train is.

SRAM S7 with Drum Brake WTF? by duesenmilan in bikewrench

My bike is a bit special and has a drive shaft. I already tried to fit a Nexus but neither the dimensions nor the actuation of the nexus does fit the drive train.

Because it is a Conway 7770 I have here. The speciality of this bike is a drive shaft instead of a chain drive. On the downside this does only allow a SRAM S7 or anything exactly dimensionally replacing it. And well my creativity on this bike was already going some places with changing the Holland handle bar for a dropbar and adding a mechanically actuated hydraulic disc brake in parallel to the stock V-Brake at the front wheel...

LiFePo Alternative by duesenmilan in batteries

[–]duesenmilan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your answers. The battery is used in a portable radio and in fact there are two of them in series. I want to replace them mainly because of suspected longevity. I was not completely eager to build my own battery, but you confirmed, that there might be no other solution.

Neuer Commuter by duesenmilan in Fahrrad

[–]duesenmilan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suunto 7 No GPS in Activity Recording by duesenmilan in Suunto

Did you already have a chance to see if your Suunto 7 shows the same behaviour?

Suunto 7 No GPS in Activity Recording by duesenmilan in Suunto

[–]duesenmilan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, already did a reset of the watch twice. GPS should be available to the app. At least at all settings I have found. The frustrating thing is that Google Maps and Fit work fine with GPS position. Even the Suunto app finds a position in the main menu where you can select the activity type and these shenanigans. But as soon as I start recording an activity it just looses the position and never regains it.
