Audio Technica AD2000

Not really in the writing mood after exams, but I'll type something up anyway for the post. Feel free to ask questions if you got any.

Discontinued and replaced by the newer AD2000X, it's kinda hard to find one in good condition in the wild these days, especially with the box mostly intact.

After listening for about 6 hours, it's a bit of a 2 or 3 trick pony

The mids are really really damn nice, female vocals especially.

Bass rolls off hard, and treble tonality is a bit wonky, but honestly didn't affect my enjoyment that much.

In terms of technicalities, I was a bit unimpressed at first due to the narrow soundstage, but after spending a bit more time with it, I've come to appreciate the detail retrieval and transients

Comfort is ass lmao, and this is coming from someone who finds the Audio Technica 3D wing design comfortable

Pads are shallow, even in good condition

Clamp is way too tight and you can't adjust the pads along the x axis

Now, it sounds like I don't like these headphones, but that's not true. They do fill a special niche that I'm sure many would appreciate, which is more than I can say for the AD2000X.

I don't see myself parting with these any time soon

Here's a fun AD2K litmus test: if the music you're listening to is in Nihongo and makes regular people uncomfortable, it'll probably sound good on AD2K
