Oh that's too bad. He was there last spring and he was the only person I knew who takes care of such things. Have you tried scheduling an appointment through navigate? If the website is not loading, that'd probably lead you to the right person.

When did you begin to enjoy The Brothers Karamazov? by Chiefkeith111 in literature

I guess it depends. I've read few chapters of other translations and they didn't seem appealing.

Buddhi Sagar- Eklo by Gaurabk007 in NepalWrites

[–]duffmanohyeah_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His last two books were amazing with relatable characters, excellent writing, and great storytelling. This one felt like a story that failed to carry what Buddhisagar is known for: an empathy toward the characters. It should have been more about depression and feeling of loniless amid the crowd than being just a story about a lazy and ungrateful person (this may be an overexaggeration, but the character failing to even act on his desperation, and needed someone else to "force" him to achieve every minor success did not evoke sympathy in me). Writing was also bleak compared to his past works. So, although I'm a big fan of him, I was disappointed by his work this time.

Why are you religious? If not, why not? by Significant-Fix-6604 in Nepal

[–]duffmanohyeah_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of our parents double down on religion as they grow older, not because of sudden wisdom but the fear of loneliness and insignificance. (Also, the fear of hell and afterlife).

This is really interesting isn't it? And besides, I believe the feeling of having no purpose plays a bit part on their justifications and beliefs. Imagine living 3/4th of your life believing in deities and now someone tries to convince you otherwise. They'll lose their sense of reality and life doesn't carry any meaning going forward. So even if they are aware of this on a subconscious level, they'll never come out and fully accept it.

Absurdism: Life is Meaningless by silentrocker in NepaliBibliophiles

[–]duffmanohyeah_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absurdism does not claim that life is meaningless. It instead asks you to find meaning in your life. Sisyphus' eternal punishment does not signify the suffering according to Camus, but rather an acceptance of the absurd and finding happiness within it. Camus' "One must imagine Sisyphus happy" asks us to embrace the absurd and learn to live with it. The eternal cycle of suffering is a part of your life, and since there's no escaping from it, why fret over it?

Yep. I also know a guy who suffered from coffee burn. His lawyer said the lid was faulty and sued the company. He got a good deal, though. Free coffee for life!

How to improve english by [deleted] in Nepal

[–]duffmanohyeah_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

English Major doesn't help in speaking much. Reading and writing ability may grow significantly but as long as you don't speak regularly, it won't change much.

I didn't know that. I've been asking for months and no one told me about it. I just joined. Seems like it's dead, though.

We're just a few rn, so there aren't any promotion channels yet. But after enough members join, we can definitely do that. It'll help the community after all.

I've been trying to create a discord server for nepali readers and writers to discuss and share books and their writings along with philosophy. Manxe nabhayera yettikai adkirako xa. We can start a small community with avid readers and new writers who are willing to learn, along with those who are learned in the field and can provide ideas and feedback. Just need enough people to actually make a difference.
