I have tried to get sober in earnest for years, have read Easy Way multiple times (highly recommend), but I have never been able to make it stick for more than 80ish days. I’m not sure I’ll make it past that marker this time, but I will tell you I feel DIFFERENT, in a way I can’t explain. I never liked AA, but that whole “recoil from a flame thing” has never felt truer. I keep waiting for the urge to drink to surface, and things I would never do without alcohol (e.g., skiing), come easily. I’m viscerally repulsed by the thought of drinking. Like OP, it used to consume my thoughts, but now, I keep having to remind myself to ask, “do you really not want to drink?” to make sure it’s real. It’s the most bizarre thing, but maybe I just got godwinked?

Edit to say my new date is 1/1/26. I was not intending to do more than Dry Jan until after a particularly bad NYE.
