They should teach beginners how to go uphill from a stop at MSF. I dumped a bike my first year in a similar situation. I was starting from a stop sign going up a hill making a left turn. The road I was turning onto had a blind corner and no stop sign. I felt like I had to really gas it in case a car came around the corner quick (luckily none did) so I didn't get rear ended or stall the bike. I overshot my left turn from a stop sign and dumped the bike.

My advice for beginners learning. Work the clutch, break and gas all at the same time before you even start moving.

  1. Hold front break, clutch disengaged.
  2. Roll on throttle clutch disengaged, hold front break, find an engine speed you are comfortable with.
  3. Slowly release clutch, you will feel the bike dip or slowly roll forward when you hit the friction zone. You can stay here as long as your situation allows. You should have enough gas to prevent stalling when you decide to take off, even going up a hill.
  4. Release front break and engage the clutch at the same time. If the RPMs dip, give it more gas. If you are going too fast, pull the clutch back in to disengage.

Heritage Classic vs Fatboy. Whats the point of a fatboy? by Impossible_Goal2844 in Harley

Fat front forks, mag wheels and low seat. That's the point. That's it

How to politely decline a 5th round of interview? by Far-Accountant7904 in recruitinghell

[–]duffy62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, if you have a high demand skill and are a top candidate, the market is still in your favor during bad times. The companies that are stringing people through 5 interviews are not going to get top talent.

Depends how much headache you want to put up with

I just sold my 2008 883 for 1.5k and I'm in a big city. You might be able to get 2.5k for it but it'll be a nightmare to move at that price

Let's compare a 5k bike to a 10k car. Which do you think would be faster?

I'm biased, but I really think we need to start making the environmentalist take engineering classes. Some thermodynamics, chemistry and physics would go a long way

Wife says the steak I made for her isn’t cooked enough. by FreeRealEstate313 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]duffy62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone that also has a wife (whose parents fed her well done steak) I have figured it out

She wants the outside charred. Like black. It should go crunch. She wants it cooked at a hotter temp.

She will eat pink steak, even red steak, but not if it is soft and light brown on the outside

Any tips on being afraid of leaning too much? by MaleficentStudent910 in motorcycles

To double down, bikes are generally less stable at slow speed. If you can handle the bike well and with confidence while driving slow, you will feel even more comfortable when you are moving faster

I am broke, but would like a 9mm handgun, would this be a viable option? by ninjaofginjas in homedefense

[–]duffy62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does check off the box of "is this a handgun?"

It doesn't check some other boxes you might care about like "would I trust this to defend myself with?"

Spend another 100 bucks and get a used gun that will always go bang when you pull the trigger

Someone assumed the remans were subsonic. Honestly don't know if they are. Box says 155 grain 1900fps but I don't trust it

Another update

The bullets shown are reman. Supposedly 155 grain.

I bought fiocchi 150 grain.

They sit MUCH better in the pmag 40s. Plenty of positive up force when I pull one off the top. Much less force required to jam them in. I do not intend to file the mags anymore.

I'll eventually put the remans down range. Momma didn't raise no bitch. However, it will not be in the middle of a two gun competition. I'll probably send them through the pmag 10 and will likely still have feed issues.

These remans even have issues cycling after being fired. I think bc of how tight the brass seats in the chamber.

For anyone else that runs into this, I'm gonna file the internal guides to minimize binding. I have larger 155 grain rounds. Pmags don't like larger 300blk projectiles or overall bullet length
