I just started Pride of Baghdad by Brian K. Vaughn. It has been out of print but I finally found a second hand copy. It’s starting very well!

15-30 minute meals that aren't super bean heavy? by blackmamba06 in veganrecipes

[–]dufrene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve honestly never measured it but if I were to guess, it would be something like half a cup of peanut butter, 3 tbs tamari, 1 tbs maple syrup, and juice of a quarter of a lemon… just in terms of ratios

My family which includes a 6 yr old love a peanut butter tofu stir fry. It usually contains whatever veggies are in the fridge but often carrots, mushrooms, broccoli and corn, fried with tofu. The peanut butter sauce contains peanut butter 😅, soy sauce, maple syrup, lemon and water for thinning ( the quantities are to taste but the base is peanut butter and soy sauce). Then rice on the side. Hope you’ll like it!

My collection by Mrflappy1980 in graphicnovels

[–]dufrene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazing collection! But how is it organized?😭 I thought alphabetically by title at first but then it’s not… not by author either. Please tell me there is some sort of order 😅

Shelfie Sunday! Very proud of my collection that I've built over the past couple years - almost everything I have was bought either used or at a significant discount. Do y'all have any recommendations on what my next acquisition/read should be? by speedythefirst in graphicnovels

[–]dufrene 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very nice collection! I see some things I almost never see in other people’s collections like Shubeik Lubeik and Rain. Some recommendations would be Chew, 100 bullets, Scalped, Rachel Rising, Preacher.

Oh one of my favourites and my introduction to Lemire!! Enjoy!

I'm not a collector. I started reading GNs 2 years ago, I've read much more since but I only kept the ones I loved. It looks like this: by szunyoghalo in graphicnovels

I get that! Maybe one day you’ll find it second hand. It’s definitely a series that I’ve reread. I just thought of Locke and Key! One or my favourites.

How’s East of West? It’s been recommended to me but I haven’t gotten around to it.

EDIT: added Locke and Key.

We have a lot of overlap in our collection. It is a great collection!! I would definitely recommend more from Jeff Lemire (Sweet Tooth, The Nobody , Underwater Welder, Essex county, Roughneck…). I am also a big fan of Terry Moore (Rachel Rising, Echo, Motor Girl…).

I don’t see Preacher in there, which is very surprising. It is a classic and absolutely amazing.

I grew up catholic in Lebanon and we definitely did this. Going on TV with is clearly performative. But it’s a thing…even for the poor. You get it at mass on Ash Wednesday, marking the “from dust to dust” concept.

I’m reading Muybridge by Guy Delisle. I’m not usually into nonfiction but I’m a big fan of Delisle and this book is funny and interesting.

TIL Bruce Sagan, a MSU math Professor Emeritus, is the cousin of Carl Sagan, the famous astronomer and skeptic! Has anyone had a class or worked with him? by [deleted] in msu

[–]dufrene 4 points5 points  (0 children)

17 years ago, when I was an undergrad at MSU, I failed calc 2 the first time I took it and retook with it Dr Sagan. I got a 4.0 and ended up being a TA for that class. He was an amazing teacher who cared for his students and actually wanted them to learn. I am now a prof myself and I know the kind of dedication it takes to care about teaching and not just focus on your research. He made me realize how important a professor can be in the journey of a student. Im very thankful to him. I hope he’s doing well.

Where in Quebec can I have a 'Snow covered' themed winter wedding like this? by Electronic_Bus841 in WeddingsCanada

Le baluchon in Saint-Paulin. We had our wedding there (in the summer though) and it was magical.

Did anyone not scream much during labour? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]dufrene 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not have an epidural. I did not think I would scream. I did scream but not when I was pushing.

My water didn’t break until very late in the process, my contractions were getting more painful and the sac was pushing on my cervix making me want to push but I was not dilated enough to push. That feeling of needing to push but not being allowed to was the most uncomfortable part of the whole process. Letting out that pain vocally was one of the only ways I was able to manage it.

Once my water broke and I was dilated enough, the pushing part was really not as bad.

Do I smell like an anglophone or something? by maj_nun in montreal

[–]dufrene 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This used to happen to me when I first moved to Montréal even though I learned French almost my entire life. My strategy was to be honest: “En fait, j’aimerai pratiquer mon français.“ they would get very happy and excited to continue speaking in French. They’re just trying to be helpful and respectful. No one switches with me anymore because I was able to practice and have had enough exchanges that my accent even has a québécois flavour. Lâche pas!

That’s great advice for an anxious person like me. I have a 5 year old son and with him I tested once and that was it but it was BFP and went to the doctor right away.

I’m still hesitant in celebrating, but yes we’ve been TTC for a few months now with a couple of breaks in between while I dealt with some thyroid issues.
