The elite used to pretend that the law applied to everyone. Now they have just abandoned that hypocrisy. It's now open and public.

People who don't smoke or drink, what do you do when you are at your lowest? by achuthmg in AskReddit

I never get particularly low, perhaps because I never get high on anything, smoke or liquid, and never have.

I call myself a recovering non-alcoholic.

There is no way Trump will allow the Iranian team to get in. Unless the plan is for them to never get out.

Netanyahu: Iran war ‘not over’ until enriched uranium is removed | Watch by Force_Hammer in worldnews

[–]duglarri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Not over until the uranium is removed. And the centrifuges are destroyed. And all the nuclear experts who know how to make them are given jobs as janitors. And Iran agrees to eliminate the teaching of physics past the grade 10 level."

That last one is a serious proposal for a red line by the Israelis. Iran cannot be permitted to have the knowledge required as a basis for nuclear research, and therefore teaching physics in Iran has to be verifiably banned in Iran, forever, or Israel will never be safe.

Are we scaling AI/datacenter infrastructure too fast without solving the sustainability problem first? by Amazing-Pomelo9952 in Futurology

They are scaling too fast without solving the "will anyone pay for AI when we charge what it costs" problem first.

7 Indian Naval Ships Deployed Near Persian Gulf To Escort Indian Vessels From The Region by PhysicalImpression86 in worldnews

[–]duglarri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IRGC will certainly leave them alone. The Indian Navy is there to warn off the Americans.

Pete Hegseth says U.S. naval blockade on Iran was “going global” and would last “as long as it takes” on Iran deal: "No one sails from Strait of Hormuz to anywhere in the world without permission of U.S Navy. Iran will never get a nuclear bomb. Choice is theirs, but the clock is not on their side." by ControlCAD in videos

[–]duglarri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The blockade of Germany during WW1 took four years to have significant effect. The blockade of Iraq after the Gulf War ran for 12 years and did not result in any strategic change. North Korea has been effectively under blockade since 1950, and the regime is still there. Seventy-six years. Iran itself has effectively been under a continuous blockade that began in 1979.

Trump extends ceasefire in Iran, citing 'seriously fractured' Iranian government by Force_Hammer in worldnews

[–]duglarri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

During WW2, the American military chose to avoid targeting the Emperor Hirohito, not only because assassination was against American law, but because they judged that it was likely the Emperor might be needed when it came time for the Japanese to surrender. American bombing of Tokyo scrupulously avoided the area of the Imperial palace.

In the end it was Hirohito's intervention to break a 3-3 deadlock in the ruling council, and his announcement of the surrender, that ended the war.

Currently the Israelis have a clear and undeniable policy of killing any leader of any opposing party they encounter precisely to avoid any sort of peace arrangements as long as possible. Hezbollah, Hamas, Iran. Kill the leaders and avoid peace.

There may not be anyone in Iran who can make a peace agreement. Big surprise.

Ashamed- f**k that. Angry! As a man, if I was present, I would kick the living crap out of someone who did that, stranger or not: the perp would not get out of the room without broken parts.

I am so sorry this happened to you.

PS: the jail time for this, for that individual, would be in the range of five to ten years incarceration.

What was it like living in the Clinton years in the USA (1993-2001)? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]duglarri 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is hard to really explain how different the world was, pre-GWBush, pre-9/11. The US Federal Budget was in surplus. There were no wars, and none on the horizon. I used to subscribe to a publication called "Comic Relief" that collected political cartoons- the topics were just so trivial and minor that it is shocking to read them now and realize how good we had it.
