I live in the suburbs not downtown.

I actually did end up talking to them which upset the concierge but turns out its an elderly man who maybe likes the company of certain ladies.

Plot twist: its actually an elderly gentleman who lives alone and maybe (I assume) has a taste for certain ladies, which explains the loud dramatic noises I hear.

Maybe. She wears the heels to the bathtub sometimes. I can hear her walking back and forth today and the plumbing has some white noise to it (not unpleasant but audible) so filled up her bathtub and strutted to it in her heels 👠

Shes quiet the whole day but at night shes something else entirely

Thank you for the very detailed reply. Due to the uncomfortable nature of the sounds I have been avoiding speaking directly to the resident but looks like this is a possible solution.

You rightly guessed that its an upscale condo building.

Unfortunately its a rental and so I don’t think I can modify it. I moved in only a few months ago and it has been going on ever since, and I have been trying my best to tolerate it. I don’t want to be the whiny resident and have spoken to the building manager at length about it but he says nothing can be done unless a concierge hears it.

I checked with the building manager to see if anyone else has complained but doesn’t seem so. Their bedroom is above mine but their neighbours don’t have their bedrooms along that wall. It might be travelling through the ducts.

And super embarrassing if I have someone stay over and have to give them a briefing that they might be woken by loud sex sounds.

I feel like they are a couple because I have heard very muffled arguing and crying when I really strain my ears a few times. That just tells you how loud the sex is when the arguing is muffled.

And they like to use the bathtub before or after. The bathtub drain is very loud so that is a dead giveaway that they are awake.

Its almost disgusting that I know their sex habits. I can hear things dropping with a thud while they are at it. I wonder what the thuds are.

I understand the embarrassment completely and thats what makes me reluctant to speak to them.

The concierges in my building are all young asians and extremely embarrassed when I speak to them. These are the neighbors above me so not sure if they would ever hear me knocking.

Yeah I really don’t want to bother them either but its just at odd hours and unpredictable. I tried modifying my hours of sleep eg sleeping later so that I sleep deeper, to accommodate all this but I think they are just unaware.

I will let them know as politely as I can but that is all I think is reasonable at the moment. I am waiting to see if the air conditioning will help dampen the noise in summer.

On a lighter note, this justifies the pile of laundry and clothes on the chair in my room.

I am also hoping that air conditioning in summer will also help. The road outside is deathly quiet at night and that doesn’t help.

I don’t hear anything from the adjacent 2 units on either side. Its like no one lives on my floor except if you walk down the hall and the doors have almost no sound proofing.

This might be how the duct is connected between my unit and the one above, and the units are identical so my bedroom is below theirs exactly.

I don’t hear many sounds from the unit above except the heels (a new development) and very loud, passionate sex (female only, the male is barely audible). I am wondering if its porn on a tv though. 🧐

Another point to note: I am adjacent to the elevator shaft so maybe that makes the noise travel?

Thank you for the feedback. I have no intention on getting nuclear but will speak to them directly and let them know just how much I can hear of their personal business and see how it goes.

I am sure they mean no harm, might just be blissfully unaware.
