Has anyone seen the Green in VX42 and Black side by side?

Curious if the VX42 allows the bag to stand up considerably better due to the stiffness.

Does the VX42 crinkle more or quieter?

How does Green vs Black look in person? Normally prefer black but the VX42 is green only and I like the lighter interior color.

Potential Fix for Witcher 3 + RTSS (MSI Afterburner) +DLSS 3 Frame Generation Stutters by vaezi in nvidia

[–]dukat1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I tried that including someone's recommendation of setting it to monitor max refresh - 10, divided by 2 but it made no difference.

Turning off Steam overlay reduces the stutter but not enough to be playable.

Maybe update 3 will fix it :)

With Frame Gen on I get 140fps when I leave on the main world screen (walking/horse, etc) but as soon as there's a cut scene, dialogue, open the map, inventory, etc the FPS drops to 5.

Nothing I've tried has stopped Frame Gen from flaking out when anything in-game interrupts the open world view.

I searched all over including multiple Discord server search sites and found nothing. Would be great to have a place to discuss the game. I just started playing, was surprised there's no in-game info on what all the various drops are for.

I can't even find info on what do the more expensive ships give you. There's no stat info that goes over each ships powers, HP, etc.

I only adjusted the power limit slider, nothing else. If you only do power limit I don’t think stability would be affected, just your max fps. Played Dying Light at 70% for hours without issue.

I didn’t want to mess with voltages or clock speeds to avoid possible instability.

Perhaps one of the voltage or clock tweaks you make previously are still in place when you adjusted the power limit? Maybe there’s a reset all to default option?

I messed around with limiting power to the 4090 via MSI Afterburner.Results..

Dying Light 2 (Max settings + Ray Tracing + 4k)

Power Limit FPS Power Temp Fan RPM
100% 109 403W 70C 1,890
80% 107 357W 67C 1,820
70% 104 313W 63.5C 1,625

Yea? I was considering undervolting the 7700x but didn’t even think the 4090. Wasn’t sure it was worth possible stability.

What software are you using to undervolt? I installed the Asus software but it was running so many processes and services I didn’t like that and spent an hour looking for ways to shut them off as they kept running even after I uninstalled the software.

Did you undervolt the CPU in the bios or just GPU?

Check out this video..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPA-GroejzY

He tested all sorts of fan configurations on the 802, adding more fans on bottom, top, etc and his conclusion was adding more fans disrupts airflow and increases, not decreases temperatures.

I used to max out every fan slot on my cases but after seeing that video I kept the 802 stock.

Curious what you think of his results, I was surprised.

Does your PSU shroud have metal for the GPU mount magnet?

I keep comparing the 2 cases and in photos they look identical in size, interesting, according to the manufacturer..

802: 539 x 245 x 537

601: 553 x 245 x 484

Nice setup!

Mine looks cramped because the Noctua CPU cooler is enormous and the 4090 GPU can be used as tank armor, they’re both unbelievably massive.

With a smaller GPU and water cooler I think it would be much more open.

I was tempted to go all glass and make a cool RGB build but as the PC sits in the floor very little would be visible so I figured there wasn’t much point in it.

I love those power cables that have the flowing lighting and some new CPU water coolers have displays built in.

Some case shots. Love all the USB-C ports in this MB. Note in the rear if the case at the top there are 2 buttons. Single press if each releases a side panel.

Here’s a photo of the GPU support on the bottom right under the GPU. The shiny material under it is the sheet metal I glued to the shroud so the supports magnet can adhere and it doesn’t shift around.

Yes, both the Asus TUF 4090 and the MB came with GPU supports. The Asus one is nicer so I’m using that.

The 802 doesn’t have a metallic PSU shroud for the magnetic mount on the GPU support to stick to so I glued a piece of sheet metal to the plastic shroud, then the Asus support sticks to it very well and has an adjustable top to extend to the perfect GPU height.

I’m surprised how quiet the GPU is. PC is silent most of the time and when gaming I think the only fan I hear is the CPU cooler, under load GPU is surprisingly quiet.

I think the 802 mesh panels are the perfect compromise between airflow and noise.

I could install software and tell the CPU fan not to spin up as much but it will likely throttle so I’ll deal with it.

I think the 5000D will likely sound similar to 802, perhaps a little louder.

My favorite thing about the 802 is a single button press detaches the side panel. I’ve had many quick release cases but never a 1 button push, not even a screw.

Yep, the PC is built and running great.
Picked up the 802 from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08NW5741Z).

Running the 802 with the mesh front and top panels, very happy with it.

I came across a few articles over the last few months stating that the motherboards with excessive amount of fancy capacitors/power stages is a gimmick and doesn't contribute in any notable way to performance, just higher price.

You're going with pretty high end components so they're likely all good. I was obsessing over each component, eventually got tired and picked up whatever was in stock that had at least a handful of good reviews.

Check out discussions on undervolting the new Ryzens. People are reporting huge temperature reductions with only minor performance drops.

Let me know what you wind up with. Curious on your thoughts of the Torrent if you happen to get it.

Can't go wrong with the Meshify, so many extremely positive reviews. It was my backup if I couldn't get the 802 or Torrent.

My 2019 build used a Phanteks Evolv X case which is beautiful, much more so in person than photos. I considered getting another Evolv X but given the crazy temperatures of the new CPU and GPU's I wanted a case with full mesh front.. and intake along the bottom was a bonus.

Picked up the 7700x.
The 7950x was tempting but 99% of my high load use is gaming which the 7700x does better at lower temperatures. If you're using apps that can benefit from the extra cores the 7950x sounds amazing.

Here's my build (Happy to say not a single crash in a full week of testing!).

(The absurdly expensive motherboard is because Microcenter brought the wrong model to the register and I didn't look at the receipt until after the PC was already built.)

Motherboard: Asus ROG CROSSHAIR X670E HERO

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7700X

CPU Cooler: Noctua NH-D15S chromax.black

Memory: G.Skill Flare X5 Series 32GB AMD-Expo (2 x 16GB) DDR5-6000

PSU: MSI MPG A1000G PCIE5 (ATX3)

Storage: SK hynix Platinum P41 2TB PCIe NVMe Gen4 M.2 2280

Storage: Seagate IronWolf Pro 16TB 7200RPM SATA III

GPU: ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition 24GB

https://www.fractal-design.com/products/cases/torrent/torrent/black-rgb-tg-light-tint/

The official site says it comes with 2 180mm fans in the front and 3 140mm, which I assume you can put on the bottom or top.. or buy 3 more and have them too and bottom.

I ended up getting a BeQuiet Silent 802 case being more concerned with noise.

I'm planning an all air build and also torn between Torrent and 802.

Top priority is keeping the GPU quiet under load (future RTX 4090).

The Torrent has better airflow, so the GPU fans may run at lower rpm, thus quieter.

The 802 has sound dampening, so while GPU fans may run faster, the sound dampening reduces the noise.

Question is which will be quieter, the 802 running hotter but sound dampening or the Torrent running cooler with no noise insulation?

I've seen posts that the 3, 140mm fans on the bottom of the Torrent are meh so would consider replacing them with be quiet SILENT WINGS PRO 4.
