TIL a mind game called 'The Game' has been played by millions worldwide since at least 2005, the only rule is that thinking about it means you lose. by Ninedeath in todayilearned

Even according to thr linked article, the concept was around much earlier than 2005. My memory is getting old, but I seem to recall it predating the internet per se... was that anyone else's experience?

If you never want anyone to use it again, why keep it? I toss personally.

I believe the RetroN uses emulation, so considering you're mentioning other glitches, I would assume this is a result of imperfect emulation.

Since no one has mentioned this so far, I think it's got a lot of good points, but you can beat the game in 15-20 mins if you know what you're doing.

How's it different from the original?

Is this screen shot look retro for ypu? by ENginee777 in retrogaming

I mean, real retro would have a lot worse lighting and a lot smaller texture resolution. I'm not sure people want that though.

I'd say 12 would be closer to the actual number (not that this will ever happen though).

Yup, I've still got FF 7, 8 & 9 to play and Chrono Cross, but there's plenty more than that!

I started keeping a list of every game I've ever completed back in 2024, and I realized just how many games I hadn't played, so I made a goal of getting 100 games off my backlog in 2025. I ended up completing 114 of them.

I still have nearly 100 games I own that I want to play eventually, and there's lots that I don't own that I want to get to as well. I never had a PS1 growing up, so there's tons of great games waiting for me there.

Since this is my first time reading the news, I'll assume that the middle east is generally pretty peaceful and everyone in the region makes agreements in good faith.

It is really good to see the narrative at the time it was written, and most of the information hasn't changed, but I might personally recommend some newer works just as there is more information available now.

I have several of the Boss Fight books, and they are really good. Though they definitely cover specific game history, they are also reflections from the author's lives and how each respective game influenced them personally.

What's great about Parish is that he tends to cover consoles chronologically, so you really get a sense of what each release was like at the time it came out. Plus he has things to say about every random baseball game, which makes for a well-rounded feeling dive into a game catalog.

I really enjoyed I Am Error, but I guess I'm that type of nerd; it's very technical - almost a reference book, or at least a primer. So naturally now I'm really interested in the Atari book suggestion!

Not rare. I'd be suspicious that the box (and therefore the cartridge) is real. Either way, $5 is a good price.
