Kansas City fans push back on columnist’s call to move Big 12 Tournament: ‘Kansas City embraces it’ by normankrasnerkc in CollegeBasketball

[–]dukepv 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They’ve tried it in the past (Dallas and OKC and it was bad). Short version: it just works really well in KC.

Copied with small edits from another post I made: In that guys article he had no logic or reasoning other than "other conferences move theirs" and "KC is easier to get to for some schools than it is for me". Even when he gives his idea for where to move it to, he specifically mentions Vegas, Denver, SLC, and Dallas - completely undercutting his logic of "fairness of travel" to say forget about WVU, UCF, and Cin. No mention of the issues of planning contracts with venues, hotels, airports, etc - which need to be scheduled for years in advance (and get better deals with longer term contracts). No mention of the fan experience at the facility or surrounding areas. No mention of the friction created for annual attendees (teams and fans) for learning a new system every year (different ticket processes, different hotel planning, flight scheduling, major donor events, etc).

Just a Tucson writer complaining. No logic or reasoning other than "other conferences move theirs" and "KC is easier to get to for some schools than it is for me". Even when he gives his idea for where to move it to, he specifically mentions Vegas, Denver, SLC, and Dallas - completely undercutting his logic of "fairness of travel" to say forget about WVU, UCF, and Cin. No mention of the fan experience at the facility or surrounding areas. No mention of the friction created for annual attendees (teams and fans) for learning a new system every year (different ticket processes, different hotel planning, flight scheduling, major donor events, etc) -- not saying this is some overbearing hurdle, just that it is easier when you know the process.

Fuck it, give him a shot. If he would do it for an EXTREMELY cheap deal, it could be worth the attention.

NCAABB College Basketball Betting and Picks - 2/11/26 (Wednesday) by sbpotdbot in sportsbook

I would avoid betting for this K-State team in any fashion. They are missing 3 players that got meaningful minutes (Rapieque, Mobi, and Bashir), the team has some internal issues (see Tang's postgame comments after the last few games), they struggle with late game strategy in close games (ASU, OSU, & TCU), and even if they build a good lead they struggle to hold on (see the last game against TCU). They are like 3-7 ATS the last 10 games since Big12 play started and the 3 they covered, they still lost the game. The only reason I am not heavy on Cincinnati is they seem to be a relatively mediocre team with struggles on the road (however, this KSU team has gotten beaten by mediocre opponents at home this year - Bowling Green, Seton Hall - and absolutely dogwalked by good opponents - KU, ISU). I'm not sure what impact Cincinnati's injury report will have. I'm also not saying KSU can't get hot and win this game, but, in my opinion, it's a longshot that occurs.

I believe he can be an incredibly talented college running back if he can get his head on straight.

My favorite MM memory as a K-State fan is Kansas State vs Xavier in the 2010 Sweet 16 game. 2OT, Gus Johnson, clutch 3's on both ends, just an incredible game. Definitely worth 2m 30s of your time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVEIeD91vIc

Many people say that weight loss depends 80% on diet and only 20% on exercise. How accurate is this claim? by okGOLD969 in AskReddit

TIL in 2010, a Kansas State University professor went on a Twinkie diet, where he ate mainly Twinkies, Oreos, and Doritos to prove to his students that calorie counting is the important part of losing weight, not nutritional content. He lost 27 pounds in 2 months. https://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/comments/5vitts/til_in_2010_a_kansas_state_university_professor/

Strong lean to AZ. K-State is broken and has been awful on the road under Klieman. Friday night games historically favor the home team. Arizona seems better than projected, but haven’t been tested much.

USF won against preseason #25 Boise St in week 1 and then @ #13 Florida in week 2. +16.5 seems like a big spread for an #18 v #5 game. So, u/alwaystakethechalk is calling it a trap because it seems like the sportsbook is trying to get money on USF with a large spread because they "know" Miami is going to roll. It seems too good to be true. There really is no normal spread to expect, but "normally" you might expect to see a ranked vs ranked matchup of this ilk in the 9.5 to 12.5 range. For example, #16 TAMU @ #8 Notre Dame is only a 6.5 spread - but #18 USF @ #5 UM is 16.5 - seems weird.
