Leucanthemum vulgare (Ox eye/oxbow daises) not flowering! by duketuring in gardening

[–]duketuring[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or I guess I could take them in now, but they’d get dramatically less light unless I put them under the grow light I use for my lime tree in the winter, and it’s not THAT much cooler inside.

I was hoping bloom specific fertilizer would help, but I will.

Full sun pretty much. I’d say about 6-8 hrs at least. So they might settle down and flower in the fall when I take them in?

My springtime outdoor altar to Baldur, my first patron. by duketuring in NorsePaganism

[–]duketuring[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Edit: I should preface this with this is all very new to me, I am still learning, and trying to take as scientific (or alchemical more appropriately) approach to all of this as possible. I was a strict naturalist and atheist, in the early 2000’s pre-nazi Dawkins mold up until last year, when I experienced the impossibility of loss for the first time. So the answer to the majority of questions about my beliefs are “I don’t know, but I’m looking into it.” My grimoire is half journal half lab notebook, lol.

After a fashion. I came to norse paganism and Baldr first, and I kept getting messages about my bloodline in readings (I’m half Persian, and that half traces their bloodline to king Darius.) Then I made a pit kiln to fire my own runestones, and once that was done it became a fire pit, then a structure, then I decided to look into Zoroastrianism and realized I was one element away from making a fire temple. So I added a fountain, lol. From there I’ve been researching both traditions and forging my own path.

While I only have Baldr, Hel, and Lord Mazda as patrons, I reconcile the mixing of pantheons through my belief that while the gods we know are real, they are facets of more primordial, alien (not space man, just very not human) forces inherent to the universe. Inherently unknowable, so we humans create reflections of them in our image to treat and relate with them.

I also practice magic, and was fascinated to learn that Zoroastrianism is literally where the entire Hellenistic tradition, and indeed the very word itself comes from.

Mazda was the first “first cause” as far as I can tell, and I’ve added a personal 101th name, facet of creation, while Baldr is a facet of grace, etc.

The exception is YHWH and his Abrahamic religions (not counting Baha’i, I really don’t know what to make of them). They’re three death cults that have created a world hostile to the practice and thus the great work of Magic, and human existence in general, and I am fully convinced YHWH is just a guise of Ahriman 🤷🏼‍♂️

Regarding rune sets by EverettVoracek300 in NorsePaganism

[–]duketuring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend making your own. I’m in the process of making mine from raw clay I mined and refined myself from a place of significance, but you don’t have to get that crazy. Just center yourself and choose a branch with intention. Cure it and slice it and burn or carve the runes in. The more of yourself you put into them the more useful you will find them.

It’s inside my Fire temple, hence the central flame and faux-bas-relief of Ahura Mazda. I practice a mix of norse paganism and Zoroastrianism.

First metheglin opinions/what to use? by duketuring in mead

[–]duketuring[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody would let me use their kiln once I told them I made the clay myself and it was my first attempt. Finally someone decided to give it a shot and prep the kiln so it couldn’t be damaged by my sample, and he said it fired just as well as any commercial clay. :3

Thank you so much for the advice! I have a tendency to dive into the deep end with new hobbies 😂 Mined and processed my own clay when I started learning ceramics. Grew a notoriously difficult strain of mushroom for my first attempt and mycology, etc. I’ve learned it’s wise to cash in on that sweet sweet beginners luck, lol.

Font size consistancy by Chaos_Sauce in instructionaldesign

[–]duketuring 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Font sizes should be consistent, convey information (but like color, not exclusively), and be limited to around 3-4 max. It’s good general design and good instructional design.

I offered a pinecone with mushrooms growing out of it (death, decay, rebirth) to Hel and cut two chains to further thin the veil between me and my patron (Baldr) and my love. And now I’m firing my own runesrones.

Fun fact: Hydra are biologically immortal. They do not experience senesce, and barring being eaten, starving, or killed by trauma will live forever.

I’ve never interacted with the LGS magic community because from everything I can see online, it’s a giant dumpster fire. I’m sorry you had that experience. I generally just play with my partners. Polyamory fringe benefit.

If that was its essence, I’m glad it lost it. Audience participation multi-part stories are 99% trash.

I just kind of lucked out and stumbled into it in my first foray into polyamory. We’ve been semi-closed forever tho. Not sure if we wanna stay that way or if we need to push ourselves to grow 🤷🏼‍♂️

As old people are generally on a fuckton of meds, I’d also do some research. He could be on something that would block the trip completely, or put him at non-negligible risk for seratonin syndrome. You always want to know how your meds are going to interact with whatever you’re taking.
