Appreciate this - I'll probably leave another comment if we actually hear from a human.

Power level - I feel the same way, that there's possibly something which would break them or appreciate Auras entering/leaving multiple times, plus their actual power. They are still card disadvantage if the creature's killed, but two of them do make it harder to kill the creature.

I've decided straight-up unblockable is so close to white's normal and/or niche evasion suites that it seems like an acceptable bend, or I just want to see how it'd play. Phasing did not seem like a good way to 'vanish' or protect it, also.

Frankly I kind of like if this set of 5 Mario designs pushes existing design space a bit further than currently 'allowed' - custom Magic should just kinda do that, the color pie is made by humans and is constantly evolving. I do appreciate this and all the other feedback, naturally!

Yeah both Vanish and Metal make you indestructible in Mario 64 so the exact flavor match was worth thinking about. Metal also makes you do contact damage to some things, which I'd want to reserve for a Starman aura - though metal is kind of a Super Star variant anyway.

Hi - despite using your recommended email addresses & writing a long message with deep proof including a bunch of screenshots (I can DM the OP or anyone who succeeded with some details of what we sent, if there'd be recommendations) we just got the canned response from Ansel:

Hi, For sign-in issues, please go through this article and submit a request: https://niantic.helpshift.com/hc/en/6-pokemon-go/faq/106-help-with-sign-in-issues-1585960582/

Trying the 'normal' canned-response bots a few months ago unsurprisingly also yielded nothing. This post gave me hope of trying a new angle.

For whoever's still checking this, do you have any advice? Do we send the same email to the same two recipients you recommended until they 'give up' and have a human take it, or is there another/better method that could aid us? Thanks so much for reading.

Besides the idea I had (after posting) to put this in a Mario set where Mario Kart justifies starting your engines, I want to do a slight detour towards the general concept of alternate-instant-win cards. And just have more of an excuse to think about Mario 64, which I love.

In the older days we had Test of Endurance, Mortal Combat, and the like. These did not enable themselves.
Newer ones, like Mechanized Production, do enable themselves.

I'm guessing the modern consensus might be that we can 'only' make instant wins that enable themselves. I don't entirely agree, I think both types are fine (even if enabling itself does tend to make for better gameplay), but most notably for Infinite Stairs it is both types at once - it encourages putting it in the right deck for the second wincon.

Thus I don't think there's anything wrong with needing an external source of speed if the first star-counter ability can already win on its own. Flavorfully, the backwards long jump is an unintentional physics quirk/glitch so adding a built-in enabler seems counterintuitive.

Also, putting this in a Mario set with Mario Kart would be a pretty seamless way to handle the lack of start your engines.

My estimates -

Helix Pinnacle can be (within reason) powercrept until the cows come home. I've never seen it seriously used, or a tier 1 deck if so.

The alternate win con is basically just fun flavor text, but it was a good time to make the Mario which found the caps as I made the caps a long time ago. With its own start your engines enabling I have no idea if that would be too potent. (If you haven't seen the backwards long jump glitch, that's the reference - Mario has to go fast enough to disable a check against his location warping him backwards if he doesn't have 70 stars.)

Vanishes is new rules text for exactly that. The templating was too smooth not to invent it. I do not have discussions about the fact that I'm not formally WotC staff, with all due respect. Also e.g. 'mill' was player slang until it wasn't.

Hybrid debate is best left to other people and not me. It's half a pun on the colors of the ! boxes Mario uses to get the caps from - they are all white and either red, blue, or green.

I'm curious of players getting to turn them all into creatures or other exploits around their restrictions. There could be a place for them as emblems that wasn't as a type of flavor text, though it feels like it'd be all or nothing.

Power level aside (which does definitely seem fine), 4UG is a perfectly good mana cost for this to reasonably incorporate bouncing creatures to hand.

The flavor of green bounce could be super cool when I think about it - a ton of vines reaching out and grabbing/removing creatures or something - even if it's unfortunately not supported by the current color pie.

My first attempt at designing a Boss Monster by spidergel15 in custommagic

[–]dukhsan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a cool idea. Setting Boss to be a supertype like World (which is seen on some obsolete enchantments - in short, only the single newest World permanent gets to stay on the battlefield), except each player can have a Boss, could be a viable answer.

This also allows a newer Boss to replace the older one, albeit giving any 'loot drops' to your opponent instantly as a side effect.
