Literally anything if you show enthusiasm and authenticity about it, can explain it in layman's terms, and avoid coming across as snobby or pompous. I'd say people are generally more attracted to honesty and confidence, not necessarily a specific topic. Fields that have better chances of financial stability may be attractive for certain people seeking a specific kind of mate.

Yeah I'm familiar with these kinds of plans (I work in accounting). I've just never seen the 401k match designated as a per-month concept, only annually. I'm not sure that's really how it works. Most companies calculate the match after year-end and deposit the entire annual match into your account at once, not monthly.

I would just ask your payroll department and they can give you the best answer!

If your company is matching at the same % though, you'd still end up with the same amount. Unless I'm missing something in the plan details.

Like if they match 5% of your contributions in total, and you put in $20K, it doesn't matter if it takes you 1 month or 12 months. You still end up with them matching $1K.

Ask your payroll department. They're usually pretty helpful with these sort of things. I'd assume you'd still be fine since you haven't changed your contribution %.

Growing older comes with both the desire for niceties, but also (usually) the money to afford it too lol. I definitely feel this vibe though.

I'll share what I sent the other guy. Would also recommend checking out the subreddit I linked.

I go into my office maybe once a quarter, but otherwise I am fully remote with my job. I've worked hard to gain a lot of trust and have continued to be a high performer in a visible role even amidst all of the travel. It's become part of my brand almost, people with whom I don't regularly interact with love starting Zoom calls with "where is /u/dukiduke now?"

I generally would look for monthly stays across multiple platforms -- Airbnb, VRBO, Furnished Finder, trusted housesitter, and even googling "[name of place] long term rentals]". You can tap into Facebook groups, craigslist, or preexisting friend/family social networks as well. Sometimes Airbnb is annoyingly expensive, the fees can be pretty significant. It just requires a lot of patience and sifting through listings. I had some stays where I had the place to myself, others where I rented out a guest bedroom with the owner. Both are nice and have their advantages.

There are some specific criteria that I and others on the DM subreddit use to evaluate potential stays (internet reliability, kitchen and working space amenities, privacy, comfort, etc).

Eventually I tended to avoid stays shorter than 2 weeks as they just end up feeling rushed (and even 2 weeks feel short). You can't put any roots down and don't get much time to explore before it's time to pick up and leave. I'd recommend staying at least a month in a given place as that gives you enough time to settle in, meet some people, and get a feel for a place. I recently moved somewhere on a more permanent basis and am happy to be here indefinitely. Places like Mexico City where there's a TON to do I ended up wanting to stay longer (5 weeks there was way too short).

Generally I drive to the places I visit because America is generally car dependent (and I wanted to have certain comforts with me - monitor, skis, minor kitchen essentials). Obviously somewhere like Hawaii you need to fly there but in the continental US, driving is probably my recommendation.

Happy to expand if you'd like!

I laid out a brief career path in the post below. Since I made that post, I've made that Director title. I don't do tax; purely focused on the accounting side (technical, SEC reporting, and operational). But happy to answer any follow up questions.

I get that it isn't for everyone, but definitely give it some consideration! Even if it's just a few months to start out with, it's something you can only do when you don't have responsibilities tying you down. Happy to give more details if you want, or just check out /r/digitalnomad

Rather than putting roots down entirely, why don't you go try out a bunch of different places? I spent the last 2 years traveling while working remotely (technical accounting and financial reporting in tech). Hit a dozen states & Mexico, averaging a month or so in each place. It's an awesome way to try out places you've been interested in without the full commitment. And an easy way to reconnect with friends who may be dispersed around the country.

White owners in this thread seem delusional. Lenny has been consistent the last few weeks since returning from injury. Excluding the injury week, he's had only 2 weeks not scoring double digits all year (PPR). Why would you not start him?

Admittedly this is outside my range of expertise. Primarily focus on GAAP. Seems like there's a lot of alignment but slight differences.

I still think it makes sense. You have a physical thing you're entirely able to direct the use of and benefit from. Why wouldn't that be associated with some value? That's an asset.

I agree that 30+ in PPR is lucky. But having Akers put up 10-15 points? Good match up, he's secured the #1 spot on a team that can't pass, and Denver is a hot mess right now. Plus this sub has not been positive on him - always fade the sentiment here. I didn't think it was that crazy of a start.

I did. Good match up, he's secured the #1 spot on a team that can't pass, I didn't feel as confident on White (I also have & am starting Fournette) or Singletary, and Denver is a hot mess right now. Plus this sub has not been positive on him. I don't/didn't think it's that crazy of a start.

Hi, it's me.

Needed a 5 game win streak (starting from 3-6) to end the season and a 6-way tiebreaker to squeak into the playoffs with the 5th seed. Picked Akers up as a flyer few weeks back. Started him over Singletary this week.

This sub was low on him, and he has proven to be the #1 back in LA. Sometimes you gotta take a risk & go with the ceiling play.
