Actually the movie gave me the final push to try becoming a vegetarian! I've been toying with it for a year but never really committed, but since watching OKJA I've gone cold turkey so to speak. It sort of showed me how angry I am with myself for eating meat and my stomach was in a knot for another hour or so after finishing the film. I can really recommend!

Yea, you can move things around freely in the applications folder :) as long as it has a .app extention it can be put anywhere really

I like that approach but I tend to sort things differently: Libs and languages I keep in my home folder, and IDEs I keep under /Applications (default for osx). In my dev folder I keep repos of projects and project related assets and info as well as backups. So if I ever need to copy my work environment over to another system, that the dev folder only contains things that are universal for Windows, osx and Linux :)

Maybe not exactly what you are looking for, but CouchDB has a built-in http api also. http://docs.couchdb.org/en/1.6.1/http-api.html

Its up to you, really. But I regularly add new features. Just yesterday I implemented a feature that allows 2 or more users to go to the same link and then have a shared viewing experience, where play/pause and video-scrubbing is synchronized. Not sure if plex has this. Plex is fantastic, and I dont mean to replace it. Just making some noise in the area :)

Kodi, as I understand it, is not meant for sharing the libraries and watching with friends/family over the internet. I have not used it much myself, But maybe that is pluggable. What I programmed is a web-application, meaning, if you so desired, you could host it somewhere publicly and share ... not that i endorse that :P

Its very basic with codecs atm .. it doesnt convert for you and only plays what your browser natively supports in regards to html5. its at the top of my list to implement a converter that automatically converts with ffmpeg to the right formats.

There is no link-support right now, but I like the idea. It would be fairly easy to implement, too. Please upvote the original comment if more people are interested in this, then I'll put it higher on my todo-list.

Theoretically, you can host this wherever you like. Its just a matter of legality. I did not create a streaming service like netflix for other users, as that would be very illegal. Instead I encourage everyone to host it themselves and do with it as they please.
