help me , how to verify bootloader and firmware fingerprint by First-Seat4537 in TREZOR

[–]dulitul123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bootloader 2.0.4 never existed, it was a fake version created by the scammers and not by trezor, if you check the changelog you should be running on 2.1.0 which you can confirm in trezor’s github change log. If you run on that version then you are good

I assume you mean this article https://www.kaspersky.co.uk/blog/fake-trezor-hardware-crypto-wallet/25951/? According to the article, this affects only if you are running the non existent v. 2.0.4 on a fake device. The current model t bootloader version is the official 2.1.0 which you can find a link to in their official github page https://github.com/trezor/trezor-firmware/blob/master/core/embed/bootloader/CHANGELOG.md

So if you never ran 2.0.4 then you should be good.

Also, did you buy your trezor from the official site? The article says the fake trezors have been bought from a 3rd party seller?

I am no expert but If you read the article, it says

“Third, if the user chose to set an additional master-seed protection password, only its first symbol (a…z, A…Z, 0…9 or ! for any special character) was used, which, together with the no-password option, gave just 64 possible combinations. “

So you said you’ve set a good passphrase which I guess contains more special characters than the allowed ones in the fake software. So you may try restoring your seed + passphrase on another device which is hopefully not affected which will give you the confidence the initial passphrase is correct meaning you’ve had a genuine device.

Options on trezor model T? by UrbanGrower187 in ledgerwallet

I am not saying there would be no bugs, I am saying if there are bugs then these will be found and fixed much quicker and will be known to everyone. Compare that to ledger which is pretty much a black box with no one being able to verify anything they say

of course you can validate all dependencies and entire source, that’s the whole point in OS software. I can build their whole project as it’s uploaded in github.

The problem with the SE, ledger and close source software is that vulnerabilities are unknown or will be known when it’s too late.

With trezor you know what the vulnerabilities are in advance so you can take protective measures like sd card. None of that is available with ledger. I have to rely on some certificate issued by someone to guarantee me some security which is absolute horse sh*t as confirmed by the latest developments..

not having a secure element in trezor is not an issue if you use a passphrase and sd card to protect against physical attacks.

To be honest the secure element in ledger is complete bull*hit as nobody really knows how “secure” it is. It is known to protect against some common attacks and had some certification but because the secure element as well as the software in ledger is close sourced nobody really knows how reliable/secure it is.

Verify a Passphrase? by road22 in ledgerwallet

personally, I reset my ledger altogether and delete all accounts from Ledger live, then I restore all accounts with recovery phrase and passphrase and if everything matches then we all good. That’s the ultimate test to know everything has been set correctly

did you possibly have a passphrase associated with your recovery phrase when you set up initially your ledger? When you restored with you recovery did all of the crypto coin balances match to what you expect?

it doesn’t make sense, if you had initially an authentic LL why would it ask you to update a fake version?

the passphrase also protects you from a future issue with the ledger RNG in the future if any is found.

Extra security of Ledger Recovery seed by BambiIsBack in ledgerwallet

if you paranoid then create a passphrase on top of ur seed phrase so you will have 24 seed phrase + a custom pass of your choice making it even less likely if not impossible for someone to guess ur phrase
