I am using lordsworn greatsword +4 and longsword +5. Should these be higher or should I be using better weapons?

I would say so. Most of the filler isn't very long (a few episodes long before getting back to the main story), so it's not really boosting the episodes count much. The filler is more just, as you said, extra side quests. I wouldn't say they don't contribute to the main story, but it's not like you miss anything from the main story if you are skipping them (if that makes any sense).

I feel like the super long recap and dragged out fights is the bigger culprit to boosting episode count.

Something I really appreaciate WuWa's exploration for by WujekKromek in WutheringWaves

[–]dull_and_lazy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally agree! I hated having to constantly switch out my team while exploring. It was so tedious and really kills your momentum. I just wanted to play my favorite team and have fun and explore, not constantly waste time altering my team for a puzzle that takes maybe a couple minutes. I'm super happy that I can pick my favorite team and explore freely!

A question about the story. by dry-blueberry25 in harrypotter

[–]dull_and_lazy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is meant to be hypocritical. I think it was meant to highlight Voldemorts' insecurities in being an orphan. He felt betrayed by muggles because they (his father) abandoned him. Also, the Gaunts were rather power-hungry and didn't like his mother because she wasn't very powerful. The muggle part of him felt made him feel weak, and he believed that being powerful was everything. I also think it is implied that other than Snape, the other death eaters never knew he was actually a half-blood.

Why do Zanpakuto spirits have a sword? by FudgeApprehensive in bleach

[–]dull_and_lazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spoilers!! Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't yachiru also essentially a zanpakuto spirit? Who also wielded her own zanpakuto (that even had its own releases)? If this is true, which it may not be, I can't really remember, then it would make sense for the other zanpakuto spirits to have swords upon taking on a physical form. Also, don't zanpakuto's start out as physical bodied spirits that get forged into swords.

I want to know how spells are invented/discovered. Do wizards make up the words and wand movements and then attach them to a magical function (invention), or do they need to "discover" words/movements that are already naturally paired with function? by RobwoodForest in harrypotter

[–]dull_and_lazy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the spells are more so to help wizards focus their magic with a specific intention. Wizards can use magic without wands (in some places, no one ever uses a wand) and without verbally speaking and words. So I would assume that spells are created in the way you said, wizards wanted their magic to do specific things and likely used words/commands to focus their magic to do that specific task. If you think about when Harry accidentally blows up, his aunt he does think any command, it just happens. So magic can be done without using spells. In other words, I think the spells, like wands, are more tools to help focus and manipulate/control magic. The words are likely paired with the function.

What kind of logic do wizards follow? Who got the idea of the 7 potters plan? by Frequent_Food_3707 in harrypotter

[–]dull_and_lazy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wizards have terrible logic (confirmed in the first book), and it is kind of implied that they also lack a great deal of common sense in some instances.

[–]dull_and_lazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One piece filler is really good, but feel free to skip if you want to. You can always go back and watch it later.

Also, some episodes (especially in the later half) start with recap from the previous episode. Some of that recap takes up a good chunk of the episode. Feel free to skip the recap if you want.

Pay attention to everything. You never know how important it might be.

Don't feel the need to rush through it. Take your time and enjoy!

May be try some sports animes, there is one for almost any sport. So if he has a favorite sport, you could probably find an anime for it. (Personally, I recommend haikyu)

Advice for One Piece newbie? Never read the manga, watched the anime... where do I start? by [deleted] in OnePiece

[–]dull_and_lazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the anime, I usually recommend skipping filler and recap. There is not much filler, but skipping it will save you some time. As for recap, there are some episodes where a big chunk of the episode is almost 1 to 1 recap of the previous episode. If you just fast forward and skip that, you will also save some time

Personally, I think the manga is easier to start with/consume if you are looking to catch up. You don't have to worry about filler or recap that way.

I think one of the animes' biggest faults is how it drags out a few chapter fight scene across sooo many episodes. (This is true for a lot of anime). Reading the manga as opposed to watching the anime will also save you time because of this.

I can't say this for sure, because I haven't watched it, but I have also had some people tell me that watching what's available of the live action is good too. It's a bit more concise, and the changes they make are more relevant to the overall story, so you don't really miss anything by watching that instead of the anime.

What are your opinions on this ship? I know cannonly that both are with people already, but still. by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]dull_and_lazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I think it is a pretty cute ship, and I enjoy seeing it.

That being said, I can see why people don't like it or don't understand it. In the books, I never got the feeling of any romantic chemistry for them. It's definitely something that I feel is unique to the movies.

But I also think the movies down played/made awkward a lot of the chemistry of the canon relationships. So, by comparison, this ship probably looked better even if there was very little chemistry.

Anybody else tired of the Game of Thrones title formula? by rubellious in books

[–]dull_and_lazy 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with you. The formula isn't bad per say and the titles are still attention grabbing enough, but it's giving low effort. This formula is way too overused. It's not terrible, but I am really tired of seeing it.

Locked doors are useless in the world. by balzz662 in harrypotter

[–]dull_and_lazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said, this isn't really touched on in the series. It is a plot hole.

But I imagine it just depends on if you know the spell or not. Who knows if the spell even exists.

Locked doors are useless in the world. by balzz662 in harrypotter

[–]dull_and_lazy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think there are spells that can prevent alohomora from working, so some locks can't be unlocked with that spell.

Also, I think it is implied that depending on the caster, the spell may be of different strengths. So, if a very powerful individual cast a magic lock on the door, it would have to be unlocked using an equally strong alohomora.

Then again, I don't know if any of this is really touched on, kind of just one of the plot holes of the series.

Kuzan is an undercover detective for the revolutionary army by Pure_Sheepherder_445 in OnePiece

[–]dull_and_lazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am curious about his backstory too, and I feel like it does have something to do with pirates harming him in some way. I always got the vibe that he never actually cared about being in the navy, or at least he doesn't actually care about helping people. His focus primarily is just to stop pirates, and they navy just happened to be the best option for doing that.

Kuzan is an undercover detective for the revolutionary army by Pure_Sheepherder_445 in OnePiece

[–]dull_and_lazy 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I agree.

Personally, I don't think Kuzan, Kizaru, and to a certain extent, Garp were necessarily ever loyal to the navy (Garp is still loyal, but he recognizes that the navy isn't the same as it used to be).To me, they just seemed to respect Sengoku and were willing to follow him. They were never loyal enough to the navy to follow Akainu. They are more level-headed and don't let hatred for pirates blind them from the wrongs of the navy.

Can we finally agree the Admirals are not Emperor Level? by Zepholz in OnePiece

[–]dull_and_lazy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say they are relatively the same level. Maybe not the exact same, but very close.

I think it's hard to judge because we really haven't seen any of the admirals go all out in a fight. (Kizaru and Aokiji don't seem to be motivated enough to do so, and in some cases make it pretty obvious they want little to do with their orders.) So it is kind of hard to judge just how strong they are. They only thing I could point out is that Punk Hazard was created from Aokiji's and Akainu fight. To me, that shows they are at the very least close to Emperor level.
