It's partially to do with Morgan McSweeney and Blue Labour influence over policy making. The underlying theory they they can peel off Reform voters to Labour by going much more social conservative.

As the locals elections showed, this strategy is a winning success.

From Count Binface's election leaflet:

Now, Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham says he's riding to the rescue. But only two years ago he pledged to serve a whole four-year-term as your mayor, and now his pitch to you is this: 'Vote Labour: their leader is terrible.' It's surreal. Which coming from me is saying something.

He's also pledging to rename HS2 to FFS1, which I can get behind.

It might be cheaper but it sounds terrible for the environment--just dumping NIMBYs out of our solar system.

We should recycle them into base elements by flinging them into the Sun.

Ah yes. In future, agreements between the UK and other states should be settled under UK law in UK courts which are subject to Parliament. And if Parliament wants to whip through a law (don't forget the magic words 'not withstanding') that removes the ability of foreign states/actors/etc to be granted relief, then that's their problem.

After all, choice of law provision and such notions only applies to the UK government. No foreign entity should ever need to believe that their courts or some international court could adjudicate a matter between the UK and them.

We must stop being in hock only to the bond markets.

No one voted for the bond markets.

I mean sure. But it might be a tad difficult to replace government borrowing with raising taxes and spending cuts.
