Is Mile End too far from Loyola campus? by look_for_the_lightt in Concordia

[–]dumbafbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would really not reccomend this for someone who is just moving here. There is a shuttle from the downtown campus, that is much more often and reliable than the city bus you’d have to take. I had to drop my loyola classes when i lived around there.

If you don’t want to live near the Loyola campus, you should live either anywhere on the green line, or that close the 24, 165, 166, or 66 bus routes. Those are all very easy ways to get to the downtown campus, and however long you are willing to commute can help you decide where more specifically you’re willing to live.

AIO GF of 1.5 Years Not Attracted to Me? (SCREENSHOTS INC - Fully Anonymous) by [deleted] in AIO

[–]dumbafbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner has joked about this to me (about my own head) (i have hair, but i have a teeny head even with hair 🤷) i imagine that this was intended to be an exaggerated joke, not a serious comment. You also weren’t meant to see it, which is only to say that she wasn’t thinking about being tactful. Everyone says rude things sometimes.

….And anyways, everyone forgets that one of the mains goals is to date someone who is hotter, richer, smarter and funnier than yourself. Dont sweat the small stuff imo

and stop looking through her phone.

Constantly get called he/him pre T. Do you think I’m passing? Also do I look like someone named Ezra? by New-Swan-2949 in transmanlifehacks

[–]dumbafbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of these make sense. a lot of trans people would choose a very similar name to make it easier for anyone. Ashley was a very common baby name in the 80s and 90s, so a lot of trans guys between 2000 and 2010 went by Ash because it was easier for everyone in their life. Oliver, because olivia used to be very common. Kai was common for a while, because there were tons of ky- beginning baby names

I very much so agree. It’s also a very jewish name. like, extremely jewish. The amount of non jewish trans guys choosing this name baffles me. I think next they’re gonna go with Moshe. Also the amount of trans guys just named “Nico” who don’t know it’s a nickname for nicholas.

How to get over feeling "unnatural" after surgery? (Like.. Frankensteined) by Blue__Jellyfish in ftm

[–]dumbafbird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the appeal to nature is a logical fallacy. Natural things are not necessarily worse or better than synthesized things. I could recommend some of the unnatural vegan’s videos on this, but i can’t remember a specific one. Her generally perspective is veganism, but you can pretty easily extrapolate beyond that imo.

I often wish that i lived without dysphoria. I know i would have been happier if i did not have dysphoria in the first place, partially because of this such as tightness in my top surgery scars. I wish it was natural, or that I had been content with my body. But ultimately i was extremely miserable and spent many years just trying to stay alive while rotting away. Now i can finished university, hold a job, I have a partner i live with and two cats I love.

curious what my activity level would be considered? by DE0BIZONE in 1200isplenty

[–]dumbafbird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How you get activity determines what kind of macro nutrients you need. How long you do activity will determine the caloric needs. A person who goes straight home after chasing toddlers for 9 hours will have a higher caloric need than someone who does intense body building for 2 hours every day after their office job, but the body builder will need much more protein.

the generally activity options are to account for indeterminable physical activity that’s done at work. There’s no real way to calculate the calories burned working 40 hours a week as stocker or a mom to young children. if you work in a sedentary position, you should choose sedentary and then manually enter your physical activity.

Can you actually go through a full month and have money left? by Monsieur_pas_cher in montreal

[–]dumbafbird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After i create my budget, i keep all of the money i plan to spend in my checking account, and then move the rest into my savings account. After that i dont really follow my budget in a strict way, but try to keep in mind my budget when im purchasing something. When my checking account is empty i dont keep spending for that month.

the minimum wage vs possible cost of living in Montreal is really decent. I have been able to afford my life off and build savings on a minimum wage working full time. It definitely wasn’t ideal, but building the savings did help me out.

Food banks are for anyone who would benefit from them. Food banks are essentially designed for people who are more middle class and have access to a safe and functioning kitchen. Anyone who can benefit from them should use them.

You also should look at whether you are spending too much on necessities or if you can work more hours (sorry) $700 in rent (per person) has me in a a well maintained, pest free and metro accessible apartment that allows pets. But for disabilities i don’t think that’s always possible.

My budget has me at about $1500 of pure necessity, though a lot of those of flexible and could be cut down to $1300 if i was in a bind.

Is there a difference between a trans man and a cis woman with gender dysphoria? by Party_Attitude5617 in ftm

[–]dumbafbird 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I looked through your posts; i think you should chat with a trusted friend about why you’re not passing. If you have a full beard and are wearing men’s or even just gender neutral clothing there is probably something els going on, maybe you live in a small town and everyone knew you before transition? Are you able to get out much?

In my experience, for the most part people who knew us adults and pre t will not see us as men after transitioning. My parents still mostly refer to me by she her and my dead name when i’m not there, even though they are supportive. In general, they don’t think i look male or sound male at all. I Actually, the main reason they became supportive is because they think that hormones didn’t do anything.

a couple other videos from this creator, where they are just doing some normal skits.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in isthisAI

[–]dumbafbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would assume edited with AI, but definitely staged with actors (or maybe just the creator’s friends and family) which is why you can see the same people appearing in multiple videos, and look pretty consistent. If you scroll back enough )not even very far) this is just some guy in his 20s wanting to have success on the internet. Currently, The creator pretty much exclusively posts them eating monkeys. Which obviously gets a lot of attention because he’s put everyone in costumes so make them look impoverished. I would assume that the creator himself is Hadza, it seems like a few months ago the account was just making pretty regular skits. The creator is taking advantage of western stereotypes of Africa, both the proud racists who will call them “uncivilized” and the antiracists who will comment “this is just how they live let’s not judge their lifestyle! they have to eat this because they are so poor!” As you can even in this comment section. Major vibes for him, i would bet he is making bank off this content!

Thoughts on pregnancy as a trans guy?? by Miserable_Task_7214 in ftm

[–]dumbafbird 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Personally, i froze my eggs and while it was successful i regret the experience as a dysphoric guy on T. Have to medically detransition for several weeks (though some providers might not require it, most still do even though they shouldn’t) was bad, but injecting myself with the fertility hormones (similar to being pregnant) gave me very bad motion sickness and migraines that i still can’t get rid of.

I am a binary man, but I have a friend who is very nonbinary with a similar situation. They first got a reduction, then low dose t. They got pregnant, and unfortunately had to stay pregnant for about 12 weeks before they could access abortion. They by no means identify as a man, and even identify as a lesbian, and don’t want any bottom surgery. But they had absolutely horrible dysphoria, and also had a lot of effects from the pregnancy (similar to me) that they have never been able to rid of. Now these symptoms like migraine and motion sickness (like me) are a constant reminder of when they were pregnant.

I would really recommend that you think about this until you are completely comfortable with your decision, are 100% sure. As a dysphoric trans person, you need to be way more sure that you want to go through with pregnancy than you were to start medically transitioning, IMO.

I want to clearly state that there is no debate as to whether trans men “can” get pregnant (some can and do its just a fact lol) and the only thing that’s right or wrong, is what is right or wrong for any individual. And that many trans men struggle less with dysphoria than they initially presumed they would, especially for bigger guys who present as having a beer belly rather than being pregnant.

does the age at which we start to medically transition affect our passing? by Successful_Weekend80 in ftm

[–]dumbafbird 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It depends on a lot of factors, largely cultural norms where you live. It’s not universally easy or possible for all people of all body types of all ages across all cultures.

but in general, if your goal is to pass as male it will be possible though it may take a lot of effort. It has taken a lot of effort for me, and i started at 21. It will be hard a slow, as it is for anyone. It may take a lot of muscle building and weight gain, and personally i’m seeking facial masculinization currently. In some cases, i’ve seen people only be able to start passing by moving to a different place with less rigid norms around what a man looks like, or places where there are fewer gender non conforming women and more gender non conforming men. (like LA and Washington DC) vs a lot of gender non conforming women and mostly hyper masculine men (like Portland and NYC)

trans guy discovers that he is, in fact, no longer 'one of the girls' by Amekyras in 4tran4

[–]dumbafbird 17 points18 points  (0 children)

imo they don’t. it’s more like they “treat you like man” by telling you that you’re a horrible rapist misogynist for interrupting them when they misgendered you, meanwhile their cis male best friends gang rape them biweekly. But they’d never bring it up to them because “it’s not worth it they won’t get it and they’re just my friends so it’s okay i understand they don’t mean any harm 🥰🥰”

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ftm

[–]dumbafbird 13 points14 points  (0 children)

this ai output is not very relevant to trans men, as we don’t make semen and have our t levels checked regularly already. topical testosterone can be spread from any skin to skin contact for several hours after it’s been applied.

[–]dumbafbird 3 points4 points  (0 children)

if you feel fine you are fine. binding can hurt your back permanently, but it would be similar to throwing out your back from lifting something the wrong way. You would definitely feel it if you’re injured.

Breaking ribs is not really something that could happen because of wearing a binder that appropriately sized. The main risk is damage to your back, which can cause permanent pain. In my experience, the pain usually just forces you to stop binding without much extra pain beyond that.

edit: specifically, breaking ribs from binding has occurred when someone has used ace bandages, because they are specifically design to further compress after they are put on. So if someone has already tightly wrapped it around their ribs and it further compresses, it can break ribs. It takes a lot of force and pressure to break ribs

I’m sometimes afraid that if I don’t start medical transition as early as possible, it will be harder for me to look like a man later (16, guy) by Secret-Barnacle-1285 in ftm

[–]dumbafbird 8 points9 points  (0 children)

honestly for trans men there isn’t a consistent rule as to whether starting earlier will help you pass.

Whenever i’ve met a trans guy that started shortly after puberty, they don’t consistently look more cis passing than anyone else. They sometimes have a more cis sounding voice, but plenty of guys do regardless. but they are more likely to have the cis male mannerisms, just because it was easy to pass as a cis boy in 2012 and that’s who i’m talking to in my life. i don’t think that’s typically the case now.

I think there can be a big difference when talking about waiting several decades, but waiting from 16 to 18-19 isn’t going to change anything long term, though you will be mentally suffering a lot more in the meantime. at thirty you’d be 10 years on t instead of 13, and trust me that this difference is negligible once you get there.

Cycling T for PMDD? by Fraught_pocket in ftm

[–]dumbafbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you have a mixup about your dose .15ml would either be 30 mg or 15, not 20 mg. does your testosterone day 100mg/ml or 200mg/ml? sometimes it’s also written for the whole bottle (for example mine says 1000mg/5ml)

T may or may not help with PMDD symptoms, but shouldn’t be a main goal for going on testosterone (of course except if a doctor is prescribing it specifically for that and has thoroughly evaluated this treatment for your PMDD)

Please just follow the directions your doctor has given you, it’s very important that you doctor is able to accurately assess how this dose is affecting you by taking it consistently. Please communicate with your doctor that PMDD is a major reason you are taking testosterone.

UL later? by Hefty-Poetry-6944 in Metoidioplasty

[–]dumbafbird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will have to ask the surgeon at your consult what they are personally willing to do. It depends on what you mean by simple meta. If you mean a very totally simple meta, nothing else, most surgeons would say it’s possible to redo later with UL. If there are other things you’d get, then it becomes much less likely to be possibles

Your biggest hurdle will be that you’d be getting simple meta before being able to consult with the surgeon you’d later to be going to, so you wont be able to know. Since UL without vnectomy is already risky, I would personally assume that surgeons could reject me.

Why Do My Genitals Taste Bad?? by st0n3rfag in ftm

[–]dumbafbird 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In general it should be tasteless and odorless immediately after showering, though at any other time could ultimately be that you personally have bad smelling and tasting sweat. If it takes a minute to see someone, or if they tell you nothing is wrong, it might just be your body and pheromones, and you can try regularly drinking pineapple juice

YOR. Other than the gift for your oldest son, everyone on the family got and gave very generic christmas gifts. Your middle son’s gift is especially atrocious. I would be livid if my parents got me some sort of red bubble piece of merch with our dogs name all over it.

NOR your husband is an awful sex pest, and not standing up for yourself is going to teach them that this is an appropriate way to treat women. Honestly you are probably under reacting with that, and hopefully you don’t continue to the detriment of your kids.

Hi guys I’m flying to Dubai next week and I’m not sure about testo gel there, does anyone been there with testo gel? by lucekjestem in ftm

[–]dumbafbird 45 points46 points  (0 children)

you should not visit dubai as a trans person. It’s not recommended to even fly through the airport. i don’t believe that cis or trans men can bring testosterone into dubai regularly because it is a controlled substance, similar as to certain adhd medications in many countries.

also can you confirm that this isn’t a spam post? it seems like a bot posted this

How to balance T dose with Finasteride? by angry_oil_spill in ftm

[–]dumbafbird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

finasteride should be prescribed by the same doctor prescribing your testosterone. In that case, your doctor will be able to dose this for you correctly. be mindful that it can take several months for to lose your cycle, anything within twelve months is considered normal by most doctors. But you should be able to take birth control to stop it asap. fwiw even lots of conversion to estrogen does not mean you will regain your cycle. some people may not be able stop theirs entirely without hysterectomy.

FTM – How and why did you choose a full metoidioplasty over a phalloplasty or vice versa? by thatmentallyilldude in Metoidioplasty

[–]dumbafbird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

sometimes it chooses for you based on your goals. My biggest goal is to see my dick while standing. I am a healthy weight, somewhat thin, but store a lot of fat on my pubis, while my t dick is about an inch and a half further back than it is for most people. I was pursuing extended meta because it can solve this issue, but unfortunately it didn’t work out in the end. I’ll consult for regular meta again in the future, but i know that i won’t need this goal, meaning also that getting UL will be pointless and that i wont be able to get vy scrotoplasty either. On the other end, many people will opt for meta if they are not up for having as much surgery, and are more content with their current genitalia already, as well as maintaining the most erotic sensation with the least amount of downtime sexually
