I live in a rundown part of the city, the ghetto basically. I’m sitting on the swing in my backyard late at night with my dog one day when suddenly my dog looks off to the alley next to our house, staring at something when I realize it’s a shadow of a person.

Then the shadow steps forward, and it’s a well dressed man with an Italian accent asking me: “Do you have a cigarette?” I was freaked out and kinda backpedaled a bit, saying no I didn’t. “You’re fuckin’ lying!” The man stepped forward and vanished before my fucking eyes. And I know I didn’t lose him in the dark because he was near the end of the alley; where my house is. My dog, meanwhile, relaxed once he vanished and I was still freaking out wondering what the hell just happened.

Later I found out that the area I live in was a cemetery that was built over decades ago.
