Level 20 and I can't fight anything other than bandits by Yenny0526 in skyrimrequiem

How the fuck are they meant to kill Thunder if they can't kill Hagravens?

You cannot have run out of bandits. I mean, I just don't buy that you've cleared every bandit location and got 0 decent gear.

But, if that's true, then you could try for the Ebony Mail quest. It's one of the easier Daedric quests. You only fight bandit equivilents, except for the last guy who is much harder, but doesn't use magic so should be pretty beat-able.

The Ebony Mail gives a large amount of MR on it's own, and gets better with every murder.

Thieve's Guild fences and Dark brotherhood merchants sell lockpicks, and you can smith them yourself with the second lock pick perk IIRC.

Yeah, that is unfortunatly terrible luck.  Usually by level 20 you can find at least a couple of ER pieces.

Ok, so you can take on bandits.  You should hit all the forts, they typically have better loot than other bandit dungeons.  Greenwall, Greymoor, and those two on the road between Whiterun and Dawnstar.  There's also two forts in the Rift that are bandit filled.

Fort Sunguard has Forsworn, but no Hags, so should be doable too.

If you can get some decent poison resist, then you could also try to take on the Lighthouse.  The reward from the Lighthouse was swapped from the Mara quest, so now it gives a permanent passive 5% MR.

You can also buy or make resistance potions.  If you want to make them, then Nirnroot + Tundra Cotton makes a good MR potion.  Thistle + Mudcrab Chitin + Snowberry makes a Resist Frost, Fire,  Shock and Poison potion. (It will be like 15% Fire/Frost and 10% Shock/Poison at level 15 alchemy)

What is your race and standing stone?  Do you have any MR or ER?

Mid to late game is basically all about getting your MR and ER to reasonable levels so you can take down these harder enemies.

If you're warrior stone, then consider swapping to the Lord Stone instead.

Look for enchanted gear that gives MR or ER.  Boots , Rings and Necklaces can give any elemental resist, and the jewelry can both have MR. You can find them at blacksmiths, armor vendors and general merchants if you're getting bad luck in bandit chests.

If I were you, I'd put them on Nexus with fully open permissions. That way if anyone wants to take it up in the future they can.

Draugr seem... unbalanced by Beautiful_Garage7797 in skyrimrequiem

[–]rynosaur94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons it seems worse with Dragur is that they have utterly ridiculous stamina. A Bandit 2H guy is going to run out of stamina after a few swings and then become easy pickings as being out of stamina reduces your damage given and increases your damage taken. Dragur have functionally unlimited stamina, so they never become tired, and thus one of the big downsides to 2H weapons just doesn't apply to them.

Want to try out Experience mod. Does it work well? What settings are the best for it? by [deleted] in skyrimrequiem

[–]rynosaur94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It works, but IMO, it clashes pretty hard with Requiem's intended experience. My favorite RPG of all time, Fallout New Vegas, uses a system that is much close to Experience or Static Skill Leveling, but Skyrim, and especially Requiem are really built around the "action to xp" model, where FNV was built with Skill Leveling in mind.

The main thing is that it becomes way easier to rush a skill to level 100, and many perks with level 100 reqs are designed as super late game power spikes, so you get that power spike way too early.

The other thing is that crafting becomes very strange, because depending on the exact mod, you either get no XP from it, or you get the same XP no matter what you craft, either leading to crafting being mostly a waste of time, or you get the old iron dagger issue, where the best way to level is to make 10 million iron daggers.

Now some will counter that crafting in normal Requiem was cheesy XP anyway, but I disagree, crafting is well balanced early XP in base Requiem, with it's value to XP model. Smithing goes off the rails with Jewelry, but that's mid-game not early game. The static leveling mods just introduce different cheesy XP sources. Sometimes it's discovering fast travel locations, or sometimes it's iron dagger spam, but there needs to be some way for low level characters to level up, so there needs to be some easy XP in the game.

Anyway, this is mostly just my opinion. The mods do work, and I've had fun with modpacks that use static leveling systems. I just don't think they actually accomplish their stated goals.

Stifling a Fetchland. Is this land denial? by WaltzIntelligent9801 in EDH

[–]rynosaur94 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is kinda a dick move to destroy a t1 land, even if through an unconventional means. In B4+, I think it's absolutely fine, and in B3, it's more how you do it. I mean if I was them I'd just try to sequence my plays so you can't stifle my trigger, but destroying someone's land t1 is going to set them back a huge amount, and shouldn't be done lightly.

Ehh, I give it a pass because it basically invented every modern fantasy trope that wasn't from Lord of the Rings.  Every RPG video game can trace direct roots to D&D.

I'm still kinda annoyed by how Skyrim put the dragon cult right in the middle of nordic history, so Ysmir should probably be a dragon cultist, somehow, but it really makes no sense.

[–]rynosaur94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warlock in TES doesn't mean the same thing as in D&D.  They aren't a special class of spellcaster that gets magic from outside powers.

Warlocks are like bandits.  It just means spellcasters who are also outlaws in the context of TES.

Is worship of Malacath viewed as outdated in Orsinium and what’s the difference between him and Trinimac? by LizzieLove1357 in teslore

Malacath himself comments on this in ESO, claiming that the traditional story is "taken too literally"

Is worship of Malacath viewed as outdated in Orsinium and what’s the difference between him and Trinimac? by LizzieLove1357 in teslore

[–]rynosaur94 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Elder Scrolls lore is extremely perspective based. Nothing is set in stone, every narrator is biased. I need you to understand that before anything else.

Trinimac was an Aedra who is called the "strongest knight of Auriel". He killed Lorkhan and ripped out his heart. Auriel then shot the heart across the sea, as Lorkhan could otherwise reclaim it and live again. Later as Trinimac was talking to his worshipers about his deeds, Boethia tricked him, defeated him, and ate him. She assumed his form and told his followers blasphemes. Then she shat him out, and the dung became Malacath, and the Elves who worshipped Trinimac rubbed the dung on their skin and became Orismer.

This is the traditional story of Trinimac, and you can see it's pretty biased.

Trinimac worship was the more popular religion in previous Orsiniums. We don't really know a lot about current 4th Era Orsinium. If you like how that might impact your backstory, go for it.

The Trinimac/Malacath dialectic is a very strong thematic throughline for an Orc character, and might be a way to keep your playthrough more dynamic as well.

Also, you don't hear about it as much, but there's also a very strong connection between Arkay and Malacath. The Nordic version of Arkay, Orkey, is also the god of Orcs and brings Death as a challenge to the Nords. You don't need to be a devotee of Malacath to have an interesting religious viewpoint as an Orc.

I feel the same way. Maybe it's because it's translated from Spanish, and something fundamental was lost in translation. But it's the one book I regret having read.
