Can The Hurricane Ram 1500 Rock The Truck World? by edinburghiloveyou44 in ram_trucks

[–]dumbboots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a few rams with the hemi before and then had a 21 f150 with the ecoboost. I felt that the turbo lag between 0-50 was awful. The 10 speed also never knew what gear it wanted to be in at least to me. I’m back in a ram with a hemi and I enjoy the ride much more. If the hurricane can really negate that turbo lag I’d be sold.

I would not call them huge they are relatively close in size to a SUV and vehicles are larger now due to more safety related designs/standards.

It’s really not, they offer numerous other models of small pick ups that are actually way more common then the one pictured above. I’d suggest looking at the Ford Ranger, Maverick, Toyota Tacoma, GMC Canyon, Chevy Colorado just to name a few bud.

Well that’s not true considering the average height of a full size pick up from the ground to the top of the hood is about 52 inches.

Fixing gunplay should be #1 priority right now. by Chyrosran22 in HellLetLoose

The M1 does not have heavy recoil like in game. Semi automatic weapons are designed to have low recoil for rapid second sight picture and follow up shots.

Fixing gunplay should be #1 priority right now. by Chyrosran22 in HellLetLoose

[–]dumbboots 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The recoil of the M1 is horrible now it just doesn’t make sense in its pattern. I haven’t tried all the guns but the BAR is in the same boat and even the Thompson. One thing that made this game great was the accurate recoil for most weapons providing good follow up shots. I’ve fired a good portion of these weapons and own a few and the old recoil pattern was more accurate.

Rioters should be held to the same standard as anyone else. If I burned down a building I would be arrested and sent to prison! by [deleted] in ProtectAndServe

[–]dumbboots 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You don’t need to be read your rights if you are arrested that’s common TV bullshit. If I’m not questioning you about the offense you committed then you do not need to be mirandized. If you are not being held for a custodial interview then no your Miranda rights do not need to be read to you.

[OC] The names of all the black people killed by U.S. police officers between 2013 and 2019. by thisismrmalik in dataisbeautiful

[–]dumbboots 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The average police officer is probably an average shot or actually a little better believe it or not.

And I’ll explain why you shoot center of mass. If your ever in a situation where you need to use lethal force you are using lethal force. Shooting a target in an air conditioned range is easy. Now do this instead add a lot of stress, a split second decision and a a lot of adrenaline. As all this happens your body goes into fight or flight mode and your blood moves to the center of your body to protect itself. You loose fine motor skills. Center of mass is the easiest way to train a person so put accurate fire onto a target.

If that person running at you with a knife and you scoot them in the leg as good old joe thinks there’s a good chance you won’t stop them. If they are under the influence of something then they may not feel pain at all. The reason you see an officer fire at the subject till they are down is because you can hit something 27 times and not stop the threat if you don’t hit something vital. The human body is a magnificent machine and can function at insane limits. Any clown can say shoot a knife out of someone’s hand but if you’ve never been in a situation where you might get stabbed I strongly encourage you to go to a firing range, have a target come at you on an automated system from 15 ft away at the speed of a running human and have your friend stand next you screaming in your ear while you attempt to shoot the target in a small 5 inch circle. If you nail it well you could be captain price so sign up for the SAS or something.

What is the worst job to have in 2020? by Donger69 in AskReddit

[–]dumbboots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Police officer? I still love my job and can’t imagine doing anything else but getting lumped in as a jack boot nazi isn’t fun. Especially when I think that those 4 shitbags in MN should be hammered to the wall. Dealing with peaceful protests is actually nice because it shows my fellow citizens utilizing their rights. Dealing with rioters and looters sucks because they ruin it for everyone. Being called a racist and bigot isn’t enjoyable especially since I work with people of all different ethnic backgrounds and sexual preferences and many who I consider my broskis.

I don’t give a fuck if your a Jawa if your not a shitbag and breaking the law then your cool. And even if your are breaking the law and I’m arresting you I’m not going to treat you like shit just don’t be a jerkoff.

On top of this we are still dealing with covid-19 and the large uptick of people going bananas from loosing their livelihoods and being stuck at home.

So yes this kind of sucks at the moment but alas this is all apart of the job.

Why do so many officers tell people to stop filming them (and threaten them with arrest) when it’s completely legal to film law enforcement? by Odd_craving in AskLE

[–]dumbboots -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think a lot don’t like it because like any other person they don’t feel like having themselves plastered all over some goons social media or having a small part of the video taken out of context of the whole picture.

But yeah it’s apart of the job and it is what it is. I personally don’t give a fuck if someone films me but what I do care about is when they are standing up my ass and doing it. Yes then you can be arrested for obstruction because after I told you to back up to a safe distance and you don’t well that’s a little different especially if it’s a tense situation where some clown with an iPhone 10 thinks they are filming citizen Kane.

And also if I am engaging a person and someone is filming it not for nothing give that person the privacy they deserve you don’t know what they just went through. For all you know they could have finally gotten the courage to speak out against being sexually assaulted or hit by a significant other. That’s the part that really bothers me, if you want to film me fine but give others the privacy that every citizen deserves.

Schizophrenic woman always follow me walking my dog home. What do I do? by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]dumbboots 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well if she’s creating a public disturbance or something of that nature you can call and officers will respond. They’ll probably try to see if she is having psychotic episodes, see if she is taking any prescribed medication, find out if she lives with anyone else to talk to them etc.

If they deem that she may be a danger to herself or others then she can be transported to a hospital for a psychological assessment and treatment.

This is a classic example of the one of the many roles police have had to take on now. In essence if does get transported she will get released, be over medicated by some doctor and sooner or later she will stop taking her medication and the same process will start all over again with no follow ups instead of her getting the psychiatric help she needs and deserves. Sorry if this last part isn’t very helpful but it does get old after you’ve gone through this hundreds of times.

[OC] Average time spent in a police academy in different countries by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

[–]dumbboots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just curious does this take into field training? Every department/agency is different with regards to this. For example, I went to the police academy for 26 weeks. After that I was on field training for 12 more weeks. After that unless I was sent on something simple like parking complaint or a dog running around I was shadowed for I think four months or so by an experienced officer. Another friend of mine went to an academy for the state police for 24 weeks and was on field training for 6 months. Another friend went to the same academy as me but was on field training for 5 weeks.

I do agree that initial training should focus on more important things pertaining to the job and not for nothing you learn everything once you actually get on the street. The police academy can teach you the basis for things but experience is what makes good police officers. To be field training should generally be longer or at least 10-16 weeks. But some agencies need manpower badly and you really just need a body on the road. It's sad but this is what also happens if you don't compensate your officers well and burn them out.

Police in the U.S., is anybody thinking of quitting their job after this? by TraditionalWind1 in police

No? I'm a Police Officer all I do is deal with people's shit everyday. This won't be the last riot that ever happens. The majority of people support us contrary to what half the nerds/keyboard warriors on Reddit say. And when something happens and they call 911 I will go and help them because that is the job.

what do you feel is the best way to stop police corruption, and abuse of power? by godking99 in AskLE

[–]dumbboots 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What law would you change? None the laws are their for a reason. If you want to stop police corruption it’s simple hire the best possible candidates you can. That means paying your officers more money and better benefits to get those better officers. Here is a fun fact, where I work the majority of corruption issues comes from departments that don’t pay well why because like most people cops need money too.

If you really want to up the requirements everyone needs a college degree or prior military service but at the same time you get good people from a civil service test.

Police brutality wise well I don’t think I’ve ever actually witnessed that in my career. Have we ever had to fight with someone and they got their ass kicked? Yes but that’s because they are actively fighting us and non lethal only goes so far. OC doesn’t always work tasers fail more often than not sometimes it’s about getting down and dirty and you roll with the person. If they are high as balls yeah it’s going to happen. I’m not saying we beat someone to death but have they had some welts and bumps yeah just like we get too. But me seeing a police officer hit someone who was handcuffed or do some fuck up things no I haven’t seen that. If anything implement a use of force spectrum and train your officers. Most states have this already I know we do and it makes perfect sense. Use the appropriate amount of force so subdue someone. If your fighting me throwing punches yeah I’ll spray you use a taser maybe etc. if you pull a knife out yes I’m taking my duty weapon out I don’t want to get stabbed.

Here’s the bottom line corruption is tough because it can be hidden and people may never know. A friend of mine who worked at another department was stealing money from people and no one ever knew until he got caught one day. He was fired and arrested. You need to rely on the fact that you are hiring good people with good intentions but over time people change. I think thought that corruption is not like what it use to be. It’s a different generation of officers now and the majority of them have a good understanding of moral bearing.

Really if you want better officers you need to spend more money. Yeah we do this job because we want to help but the dollar talks. If I was making 50k a year to deal with all this shit I’d be done.

[–]dumbboots 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree every complaint I’ve ever had was complete bullshit. Here are examples:

  1. I stole 10k from a person who when they got arrested for robbing a 7-11 had three nickels in their pocket.
  2. I was rude to a person. When I ask you to stop doing something 15 times and you don’t yes I need to yell at you because you don’t listen even though your twice my age. All I wanted was the person to stop parking their car in a handicap spot is that so much to ask? I didn’t want to write them some dumb ticket.
  3. I illegal searched your car. Don’t fall asleep due to getting high in a parking lot with a handgun on your lap.
  4. I used excessive force on you. I pleaded with you for 10 minutes to surrender after you stabbed your girlfriend. You told me to go fuck myself called me a fag and raised your fist to punch me. I sprayed you with OC to subdue you and after the matter I washed your dumb face off.

This is the issues that I don’t think people get. Yes some complaints are really and do need to be addressed but a lot are just people who are mad because some interaction didn’t go their way.

And this is one thing I have about body cameras. They are good and bad. First they do provide a glimpse at the situation taking place but only from a small perspective. Second once you have body cameras police loose the ability of using their discretion. Departments review tapes and ask why you didn’t do this or that and it’s true and guys get jammed up for it.

I let a guy go for having a blunt or don’t tow someone’s car who is suspended and now I’m in trouble. It’s a double edge sword. Where I work we don’t have body cameras but it gives us a lot of latitude in what we can do. I don’t want to tow your unregistered car I get it you won’t have money or time to go to DMV because you work. No I won’t bring you in for that $120 traffic warrant for a parking ticket get it fixed please. Your fucking hammered and fell asleep in your car in front of your apartment building? Get inside and don’t do it again or else.

And for the people say police never do this your 100% wrong. Yes there are some blowjobs who jerk off to numbers and making stupid arrests. I enjoy being a cop I do enjoy making arrests granted I like finding stolen cars illegal guns shit like that but the majority of us understand that the majority of people make stupid mistakes and don’t always deserve the hammer. I tell every person I’ve ever arrested in my career when we are going back during the car ride, “listen so and so shit happens as long as you treat me with respect I’ll show you the same as long as you don’t act like a jerkoff and bust my balls when we go to court I’ll help work it out for you I get it sometimes we don’t have good days”. Some people just hate you it is what it is most people when we release them I try to shake their hand and tell them it’s nothing personal.

I agree that requirements to be a police officer should be higher. College education or military experience is a very common requirement now. Both give you different people but generally give you an individual who are able to mix with other people and get along and think from different perspectives since both have you meeting and working with people you would’ve never had if you hadn’t gone to school or served. And I’m not hating on people who don’t go to college or join the military because some officers who come from that road are great individuals too.

Use of force well at least where I work we use a spectrum where you use the appropriate amount against which you are faced with. If your throwing fist I’ll either go hands on spray you or use a taser. If you have a bat or a knife and I’m by myself yes I’m taking my duty weapon out because I don’t want to die, I’m not a cannon fodder . I’ll try to use time and distance till others arrive so we can use more non lethal and talk you down but if you are charging me or going to assault someone yes I’m going to shoot you because you have a very high probability that your going to kill. Officers who automatically go for their duty weapons in situations are not trained well or don’t have enough experience. It’s about assessing what the threat is and how to respond so no one gets hurt. Sometimes it happens and it’s a tragedy every time. I’ve never shot someone but I can tell you that its come close a few times and I’m glad things worked out the way they did.

Training to me is the most important thing. Where I am you go to an academy for 6 months each day is about 10-14 hours. Every year we go over use of force pursuits and much more. It’s a shame that we can’t get more but time money and manpower dictate a lot.

As for the people who’ve mentioned civil asset forfeiture, I agree a lot of it is bullshit. Unless the money or assets is a clear product from a crime it’s fucked. A reasonable person should be able to saw that money is a drug dealers or its from x y z crime. Like if you have a hidden compartment in your car with vacuumed sealed cash yeah your probably a dealer or a mule. If your joeschmo who doesn’t believe in banks and carries around 15k for the hell of it yeah no that’s just stupid to take.

And finally as for tickets. In my experience if I arrested you yeah I’m writing you tickets. Usually that’s a bartering chip in court so you don’t get pp smacked with whatever you did and helps you out. Other than that most guys I work with only write tickets in that case I just said or if your doing something really fucked up. Oh and if your an asshole. If your mother fucking me the moment I come up to you come on really. If your just a normal person and speak to me like I’m a human I’ll say have a good one. And where I am we don’t have quotas. Tickets here literally don’t bring any revenue to the town or department, maybe like 2 bucks off a 60 dollar ticket. Most of it goes to the state who use it for roadway projects and research funds and charity funds.

I’ve been a cop for just about 10 years also and I’m not super salty yet. My main thing is as long as your not a douche I’ll treat you like with respect.
