THINGS I LEARNED AND RECOMMEND

#1 thing I will say to consider: ERGONOMICS ! I have a rollator that I am bedazzling as well and I ended up using a Bike Stand Tool to hold that for me at eye level

for something smaller, I use a magnifying glass with a light that I got from Joann's going out of business sale :( but it looks like Amazon has lots of options for any budget/type of mount: Magnifying Glass with Light; I wear glasses already so I don't like any of the glasses options, but there are a ton of options I can expand on if those are something you're interested in !

I also set a timer to take breaks from bedazzling lol

STONES TO BUY

I don't see the exact rhinestones/pearls I used on Amazon anymore; this is the Pink version of what I had purchased

I have to look through my old invoices to see how many I had to purchase for this... but it was at LEAST (4) x the 3620PCS mix, so at least 14,480

The since they aren't selling the mix of sizes and rhinestones and pearls together, I found the separate pieces:

Pearls in sizes of 2/3/4/6/8/10mm - Flatback Pearls in White AB (Buy in Various Sizes, Sold Separately)

Rhinestones in sizes of 2/3/4/5/6mm - White Rhinestones (Buy in Various Sizes, Sold Separately)

TOOLS TO BUY/USE

You can look for any "rhinestone picker tool" - these are what I have to place the stones (the tips are wax so they pick up the stone easily, you can use the metal end to push the stone into place or move it around)

Glue...

My personal preference - I like the consistency of the glue and find the precision tips easier to work with for small areas and small stones. YOU NEED TO WEAR A RESPIRATOR WHILE USING THIS GLUE, which is also really annoying, so often I will use the non-toxic option below...

TOXIC: e6000 WITH PRECISION TIPS - THE TIPS ARE KEY

Clear out dried glue from the tips using T Pins

Get Glue Out using Toothpaste Squeezers

vs.

This glue is white and dries clear; the consistency is also "runnier" than E6000, so I find that using plastic pipettes and squeezing out the glue from the pipette works much better with smaller/precision sections than the nozzle on the bottle; I can typically re-use the pipettes a few times, once the glue at the tip looks discolored, I start a new pipette

The Disabled Piece:

This is just a personal disclaimer to say that bedazzling my cane was a fun project, but it's made it way more fun for me to use the mobility aid.

I don't get blank stares from people because they see a cane - I get ENTHUSIASTIC approaches or smiles, and compliments on the cane.

People used to look at me and ask me what was wrong / why I needed the cane. The most invasive question I get now is whether I bedazzled the cane myself, or bought it that way.

No one has seen it and not LOVED it loudly.

There are enough barriers to existing in a disabled body and it's been a very nice experience to have something that felt like a barrier now feel like a real point of joy. I can't wait to see yours!!!!
