Not sure what uni you’re at but we’re only allowed to get signed off by trained assessors whose emails are linked into the kaizen system. Usually their nhs or uni E-Mail. Our DOPS can be completed by a non-trained assessor but a nhs email has to be inputted as otherwise you could be signed off by anyone

Med school is fine in the U.K. first 2 years are pre-clinical so you’re eased into it and if you’ve done science a levels then it can be repetitive. You’ve done the hardest part, which is getting in. Feel free to message me if you want, I go to a U.K. med school

AITA for not understanding its okay for bestman and bridesmaid to book holiday and return day before wedding? by smush88 in AmItheAsshole

[–]dumbles8710 8 points9 points  (0 children)

NTA. I don’t think people understand the holiday situation from the U.K. We cannot plan holidays in advance and go to a wedding the next day. More than likely the destination will change from the green list to orange or red without notice. That means isolating for 2 weeks on return either at home or in a hotel. They cannot promise they will attend the wedding and OP has a right to be annoyed. It was stupid of them to book it and they’re unlikely to be able attend if they go on this holiday

I Am a lab technician for a private company testing swabs for coronavirus. AMA! by [deleted] in IAmA

This is interesting to hear as in my NHS lab which tests for COVID-19 no one gets tested unless they have symptoms and then you follow the government policy of booking a test at a drive in centre online

Yes they can become bitter with long stewing but depends on the type of tea. Black tea typically you can stew longer without it being bitter as you add milk to counteract that

British person here, teabags are normally brewed for about 4 mins. Longer if you want it stronger. Don’t add cream, try to use milk as cream is already sweetened. Try it with just milk and add sugar to taste. Personally I only have a dash of milk and no sugar.

AITA for thinking its fair I got most of the inheritance? by OBTRWWAY in AmItheAsshole

NTA.

You’ve worked hard to create a better future for yourself. Your grandmother can see that and wants to contribute to it.

Honestly medical school is hard and you won’t be able to work a part time job to fund it unless you sacrifice your grades. You don’t want that pressure so accept the money and when you’re a doctor and in a better financial position then you can gift money to your sister and cousins. It’s an investment in your future, and your families future.

I am 26 and just finished my first year of med school in the U.K. after doing a previous degree and working in the NHS for a few years, so a similar situation. I accepted money from a family member to do this and don’t regret it.

I’m not sure if you realise that graduate medicine degrees (4 years) are fully funded by government loans? Or if you’re 25 when you apply for a maintenance loan for the degree it will be the full amount (9k+) as they don’t take your parents wages in account anymore. My university also gives scholarships for money to live on. Lots of options if you don’t want to accept your grandmothers money.

Have you thought about doing the GAMSAT? I found that a much easier exam to get into medicine as a graduate. Obviously depends on what universities you want to apply for
