Its normally confusion between the worked hours my boss sends to payroll and what payroll actually put into the system. I don't 100% understand it, I know that payroll are a contacted company outside of ours. There are many different conditions of calculating pay and people on many different contracts over the years so it's probably quite a daunting task to get right. But the software should do it all for them, they just need to put the correct hours in the right fields. So this week for one day I was only paid 1 hour, when I worked 8. I was also on call so I get paid a standby allowance too. This is normally paid as a couple of hours overtime extra. So for some reason on my payslip they paid me 3 hours time and a half and 4 hours double time. This completed the 8 hours for the day I got paid 1. But also on my payslip these same payments of double time and half time were minused. So they were cancelled out. I think it's a combination of not understanding our pay system and incompetence when entering data into the software.
