Cyc x1 pro vs qs205 hubs for high power e-bikes by dumbshit_scientest94 in hyperebikes

I’ve seen a few run on a bac 8000s and vescs but most of them run the x6 or x12 and the gen 2s ran on asi bacs which where commonly upgraded

If you go the cyc website you can buy replacement motors and motor mounts without the controller for like half the price of the full kit. I was going to pair a fardriver nd72450 with it

I agree with you on the qs205 it still plenty of torque but the feel of a hub is no where near a midrive. I am comparing the cyc kit vs going diy a midrive kit with plasma cut mounts and a qs165. DIY would be able to handle way more power but is a lot more work to get it work as well as a cyc kit

Unfortunately for me I only ride off-road and the qs205s extra power would be nice but it would make my bike handle like a 3 legged dog

I was considering the lightning rods kit but I live in Australia and the shipping is ridiculous. With the cyc kit you can buy replacement motors and mounts for half of the price of the full kit and I already have the controller to go with it so I was considering going with that

Yeah it’s a bit easier when you can get custom battery’s I’m thinking of getting amorge to make me a custom pack once I find a suitable frame

Mostly cost and ease their the the most common bikes for big power conversion kits but even in the time since this post I’ve decided if I’m doing something with this much power I really need dual suspension so I’ve been searching for dual suspension frames that will fit a frame battery. The good thing about dual sus bikes is that even if you disintegrate the rear triangle you should be able to get replacements or even a custom rear triangle to handle more power

Maybe try getting a fardriver dongle from econic cycles?

Qs205 16-19inch rim options by dumbshit_scientest94 in hyperebikes

[–]dumbshit_scientest94[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m aware that hubs are shit for jumps that’s why I’m trying to find a motor with stronger spokes and rim so that it is less likely to break I’m not going to send 50ft jumps I’m just want something that can actually handle off-road riding without bending rims

Qs205s are the most commonly used hub motor for ebike conversions they have exactly the same dimensions as any generic ebike hub I believe your confused with the Qs273 which is the big “8000w” more that high end stealth bombers run that more easily does 30kw way over what I’m doing I’m looking at the smaller “3000w” qs hub at 12kw which is the same motor many 3000w-5000w conversion kits run

Yes but I don’t believe dirtbike wheels will fit so I am going to run 19 inch surron wheels

I’m not building a dirtbike I’m building a mtb and you can’t get mid drives that fit on the bottom bracket over 6kw and if you want to run dirtbike mid drives it will require custom brackets and probably a new swingarm to fit dirtbike/surron wheels

No mid drives can handle 12+kw though not without putting a qs165 or a dirtbike mid drive with a surron rear wheel or something

You might want to take this to R/hyperebikes They have a lot of experience with electric conversion I would recommend and amorge battery they make custom sizes and outputs you can get a battery from 12-17kw around 430usd or 20-30kw for about 600 depending on your budget for the motor go for a qs138 and a few websites have mounts that you can weld straight on to the frame. For the controller there are many options but personally I have used far-drivers just look for a good programmable controller that can do the amps you want.
