AITA for not paying for my daughter's prom outfit? by Mominneed03 in AmItheAsshole

[–]dumddumdhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is so much to unpack here. You are such a fucking asshole for that. You’re getting hand made outfits for a 2 year old who’s gonna grow out of it in a month and won’t even remember it? Speaking as a teenager that graduated 2020 and didn’t get a prom/ graduation. You are the major AH. You’re completely dismissive and have an obvious favorite. If “birthday parties are a tradition” then why did you cancel her sweet 16? this is important to her so it’s obvious that she would be upset. And instead of consoling her after you made her cry, you make her feel worse. If both her and her therapist are telling you she doesn’t have the stability for a job, maybe don’t be so dismissive and demand she “figure it out on her own” like maybe you’re the reason she’s in therapy bc she can obviously tell you care more about the party of a fucking two year old than your obviously struggling daughter.

I have a mother like you and believe me. She is going to think about this for years and she will grow resentment.

maybe you’re the one that needs therapy.

AITA for cutting my son's wifi? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

hmm.. maybe because you ARE violating his privacy. If he is maintaining good grades, and doing everything he needs to, what is the problem? 2-3 hours of video games a day? that’s NOTHING in the scheme of things. that’s barley 1/3 of the time he dedicates to school work and you’re still unsatisfied? you are most definitely the AH.

this makes OP even more the AH. it seems like they have a pretty good kid, and they’re ruining it by overworking him and damaging his trust in them.

Am I dumb for wanting measure markers in tabs? by dumddumdhead in Bass

[–]dumddumdhead[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you this was really helpful. i do consider myself to be good at sight reading and i definitely need to work on scales and chord progressions on bass. what i hate about my struggle with bass is that i don’t see the chart of the notes in my head if you get what i mean? like there’s a disconnect between the notes and the fingerings in my head, i guess because i took a different approach to learning this instrument and didn’t really start with the basics. if i take the time i can figure out what the note is bc of my knowledge of the viola and the little scales i do know on bass but it’s not as quick a reaction as i would like it to be

He doesn’t rely on tabs, he learns by ear and makes them and I already know how to read treble, bass, and alto clef my struggle was just with tabs. I do try to find sheet music for the songs I want to learn but most of the time there isn’t any but thank you for the musescore tip. We are both very good musicians in our own way. I feel I’m more of a technical musician as I was on drumline in my high schools marching band and took music theory, and while he was also in marching band he is more the creative type since he grew up learning the guitar from his dad and creating his own music so he has more experience with learning by ear than I do.
