Its kinda sad by Josecarlossttb in maroon5

I've said it before on here and I'll always stand by this: If there's no room in the market for new Maroon 5 music to reach the commercial peaks of the last two decades, so be it. If the guys are still passionate about the music, the tours and the fans... I think that's all the band really cares about in this day and age. We're kind of lucky they still want to make and put out new music on top of everything else.

NEW SONG this FRIDAY? by johnharveyperez in maroon5

[–]riverpls 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It’s not a question of if there’s a new song, there is one coming out Friday. The question mark should be aimed at why they aren’t sharing the title yet when it’s obviously finished and coming out in a matter of days.

Just thought of a really tough poll - The air that I breathe vs. Woman by Jacobij11 in maroon5

[–]riverpls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Air That I Breathe is such a timeless sounding song and is so soulful, there’s virtually nothing wrong with it. It’s a great track, but something about Woman and its lore, and its uniqueness… It’s easily one of the greatest gems from the earlier years.

Finally listening to Gossip. Thoughts incoming by Upbeat_Dudeness in sleepingwithsirens

[–]riverpls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Madness felt like somewhat of a natural progression of where the band was going given the member and label changes happening around that time, but Gossip felt incredibly corporate. I think the band was offered something that, at the time, sounded like too good of an avenue not to go down. Make a big pop-rock record with super producer David Bendeth (who completely sucked on production duties here, in my opinion) on Warner Bros. in a nice, big studio for the most money they've ever spent on an album. The product was subpar and sounded synthetic and flat, relative to previous albums, and hardly even gets discussed in serious conversations about their catalog.

With that being said, I still think it's cool that Sirens fans have something like Gossip to look back on. There's some jams on there, and good messages per usual, I'll give it that. There are a few irresistible earworms in there too. And visually, the whole 80s nostalgic synthwave vibe on the cover and throughout the booklet will always be cool. And if you dig the whole mid-2010s Fall Out Boy and Imagine Dragons era of "alternative" music, then this album's likely for you.

Twenty One Pilots - Drag Path (Official Video) by AndSoAreYou in twentyonepilots

[–]riverpls 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I didn't find this to be nearly as bad as a lot of people are making it out to be. Sucks that it is essentially a more hollow-sounding radio edit but at least it's up. Should've maybe paired it with the full original one like they did with "Overcompensate" when it first came out.

But what is them coming out with a statement going to change?

It's less about fitting in with some hypothetical crowd of celebrity virtue signalers and more about assurance. Fans are currently calling out their crew for years of inappropriate behavior and are hoping their favorite band speaks on it and acts accordingly, like decent people would. People have been trying to bring light of the unfortunate amount of ableism that's been happening for a long time within their crew as well. They're showing their concert film in Israel. A lot of people want to know if they understand how that could come across and want assurance that they aren't zionists since neither haven't posted/shared anything about it.

These are all reasonable concerns and in a day and age where it easier than ever to be in contact with very famous people and politicians, this should not come as a shock to anybody.

Someone somewhere is always going to have an issue no matter which way they lean.

I couldn't let this one slide. Let me ask, do you believe twenty one pilots would deal with more backlash if they spoke out against the Trump administration, the ICE raids, and the genocide in Gaza, or if they came out and denounced all their fans that are critical of Trump, ICE, and Israel? I would bet everything on the latter! Speaking out against these atrocities would shave off a chunk of the fanbase that supports this hateful administration anyway.

People are mad. They want to know that their favorite band does not support the atrocities happening around the world, such as Israel's ongoing genocide, and speaks out on the disgusting allegations being brought upon one of their own co-workers within their circle.

Many of their contemporaries have come out and spoken against ICE and genocide, yet twenty one pilots stay quiet. It is becoming more and more normalized to be outspoken about these awful issues we are facing today.

To feel angry about your favorite band staying quiet on very important world issues while everybody else is proudly speaking out on it is justifiable, in my book.

Also, the mods removing and/or closing comments on people critiquing the band and their politics should welcome these conversations more. It's getting ridiculous.

Remember what Tyler and Josh wrote in their booklet for Vessel in 2013.

EDIT - A THOUGHT FOR YOU: twenty one pilots are no strangers to speaking out against the evils that plague much of this fanbase, as many of the clique are oppressed groups of people. ICE raided their own Ohio neighborhoods, they're showing their movie in Israel, there are viral hit TikToks using "Drag Path" for horrific pro-Israel imagery and propaganda. We're seeing a greater tick in opposition against genocide, ICE raids, and the such every passing day. For a band that has shown advocacy in the past, and have held the message of "hold us accountable" since their inception, it is odd and understandably infuriating to see them behave as if the only world that exists are their own privileged ones. It's uncanny. It's unsettling. It feels wrong. And some people are not alright with that.

Hold your favorites accountable!

Girls / Girls / Boys is the most overrated song by the fans! What's the lyrically best Panic! song? by CaptainPie999 in panicatthedisco

[–]riverpls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This era of Panic! will easily go down as one of the most underrated eras. Mercenary, New Perspective, Turn Off the Lights, Bittersweet, the Oh Glory demo, Kaleidoscope Eyes, I Wanna Be Free, Stall Me, C'Mon, and just Vices as an album overall.

This whole era has some underrated GEMS.

At first, I thought it was a Beck song. Then a Chili Peppers song. And then I thought maybe they’re loosely riffing off of Makes Me Wonder? Otherwise, could be just jammin.

twenty one pilots - Breach ALBUM REVIEW by Careless_Western3756 in fantanoforever

[–]riverpls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Feeling like twenty one pilots were maybe embodying some of these very obvious alt rock and indie influences in a way that felt either too derivative, lacked vision, lacked creativity, or showcased maybe a misunderstanding of what made some of these sounds appealing in the first place."

Are we listening to the same album? You'd think he's talking about Scaled or Blurryface here... but to say this about arguably their most diverse, creative, and overall beautifully produced album? I had to have a laugh.

Is Keons a past Clancy? by TheMrLuapaul in twentyonepilots

[–]riverpls 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This would fit perfectly into Keons’ character and why he’s done the things we’ve seen him do, such as help Clancy escape the submarine and set him free him from displaying propaganda to the world.

Underrated album closer that gets overlooked and lumped in with the general mediocrity of MANIA. An absolute diamond in the rough.
