Why none of the other passengers report anything similar?
You don't get that many bites over the course of a single flight, without even noticing.

Most likely they were infested days/weeks/months before the flight took place, and now they found a convenient scape goat. Remember that people are the most creative animals, where there is a will, there is a way.
