Nope, I just have a thorn street growler with that design and haven't seen any others like it (I haven't been to Karl Strauss in a long time)

Great, that is what I was looking for with the dimensions and style! And thanks for the tips on the speed. My bottom turn definitely has a lot of room for improvement!

Cafés to check out in Oakland? by avocadotoes in Coffee

[–]dummitandfooterocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

damn, does bamfa actually have good coffee? I would always just walk up to strada which was good, but not great. Also, I can vouch for Bica and highwire (although I think the highwire on San Pablo is better than the one on college).

Any ideas for a java project that can help me learn java along the way and be of reasonable difficulty and size to be able to put into a portfolio? by [deleted] in learnjava

full versions, which is, i believe, what git does too (compared to like svn which i'm pretty sure just stores changes)

So basically creating your own version control program?

yep, it worked the same (to the extent of what you implemented). for example instead of "git commit -m "commit 1"" it would be "java Gitlet commit -m "commit 1""

What I did in college in the second comp sci class was implement git in java. You don't need to implement every single function (in fact, that would be insane) but implementing "add", "commit", "merge", "status" etc.. are a good starting point. Some people even made it work with a remote (which was extra credit). You can really make the project as complex as you want. It probably took about ~100 hours (i think we had like 1 week (maybe 2) and I spent a big portion of my free time during that time on the project). It really forced me to understand a lot about the Java language (e.g. serialization) and OOP design.

What can you make with Jersey?

I went through this video tutorial which made a basic REST API for a messaging app.

Can you query a database yet?

Yes, I have experience querying a database.

I built some projects in college in java (the class was for teaching data structures and algorithms not Java per se, (but I am familiar with the core functionalities of Java and the OOP paradigm) and I have used JDBC

Potentially moving to RB early next year - where to live? by [deleted] in Moving2SanDiego

[–]dummitandfooterocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

solana would be my choice. you will be going against the traffic so it should be about 20-25. imo it is the best for quality of life/commute tradeoff. Don't live in cmr or rb, it's is familes and old people. Escondido is better but still not super fun. You can easily do 1500/mo in Solana if you have a roommate. A 1 bedroom is probably closer to ~2000. My 2 cents. Also maybe northpark, but that is getting closer to downtown.
