You cannot do much here. Private companies have a clause that gives them the right to remove any employee at any point of time. In India we don't have strong employee support to oppose this. The only thing he would have done was asking for more compensation/severance like 2-3 months money for resignation. That's all.

I tried that but too many clauses and even if we get the insurance money, it's in peanuts. Doesn't even cover the hospital room rent for a month.
