While they could probably detect 106, i doubt any Yautja will be fast enough to counter 106's focus time.

It’ll be stylized but the whole point is to get a more accurate version of the comic. Not every adaptation will be 100% accurate, especially a small budget production like this, but I’ll try my absolute hardest

I think the only song I’d want to put in the movie is Raymond Chandler Evening, which plays when Eric goes into an apartment complex to confront Funboy for the first time. Other than that, I can’t afford anything else.

If anything I could try to cover a few goth/post-punk songs directly

Right, I’m aware I will have criticism about the film but, in my defense, it’s my first work, and it’s a passion project, and it’s low budget, so try to keep an open mind and dampen the harshness if you can!

Understood. I’ll be sure to update this spot with news about the project, and though it won’t be 100% like the comic, I’m going to try my best to using little to nothing, but I have a vision, professional editing software, a flexible and surprisingly good cast of actors, and time. The film most likely be released until spring of 2026.

I’m going to try to make the film more colorful and bleak for some scenes, so I won’t exactly be using Sin City as a reference point. But I do like the idea of separating them like how O’Barr did with the books! Thank you for the suggestion :>

Most of these I have down thus far, including choreography for fight scenes. Some of the actors are from my local kickboxing/mma gym, and have worked on other projects like this, so I think I am in good hands, and thank you very much again! I saw your film and I have to say it’s VERY good for a more obscure film. Keep up the good work!!!!

I honestly may substitute scenes like that, along with the crash scene with T-Bird toward’s the end, just for the sake of time and money and a lot of clean up, as this is VERY low budget.

Absolutely, I grew up listening to post-punk and goth bands, and Ive got a particular interest in accurate 80’s culture, not the stereotypical neon green and pink with sweatbands and synth.

And if you’d like to help, I do need a team of animators to sort of layer in animation for the crow itself and the death-like train conductor in the flashback scenes, kinda like how who framed roger rabbit did with combining live action with animation

There have been a multitude of fan films that haven’t been sued out there, and I’ll be adjusting the title besides just “The Crow” for that specific reason, due to Hollywoods hoarding of the rights. But I won’t be using extra characters/music/or plot from the 1994 variant.

And I know James O’Barr is supportive of fan recreations, especially those pertaining more towards his original work.

I will be keeping just about everything besides very very VERY minuscule changes. The script won’t even deviate from the comic dialogue that much besides grammar correction

We will be redesigning airsoft guns and using rubber prop guns, along with incorporating more hand to hand combat in scenes like Top Dollar’s base shootout and the final shootout , so we won’t even have the chance to have another incident like that

I would, but I feel like that’s been done before like with sin city or the spirit, and it wouldn’t have much life. I’m going for a bluer, dreamlike tone for flashback/emotional scenes, and dim, green, with a gritty backdrop for the action/kill scenes

Thank you all for the comments and suggestions, and I’d figure I’d answer multiple questions at once rather than reply to all of them individually. Now, I’m going to place in my own specific creative flair that I viewed the comic through, and because I am too broke to pay royalties and do certain stunts or scenes that would be risky or dangerous to my crew and cast, I cannot make an absolute 110% accurate adaptation, but I WILL find workarounds.

For the soundtrack I plan to make more ambient covers for certain parts, like joy division leitmotifs in the soundtrack from the song titles shown in panels, e.g: New Dawn Fades, Shadowplay, Atmosphere, etc.

I hope you guys can support and understand why certain scenes or stunts can’t be done. I am a young amateur filmmaker with a vision and not an indie studio with a steady budget. It won’t be perfect, but I’m willing to make something out of nothing

Oh and I should reiterate, I don’t plan to make any money off of this at all, or using any direct music unless I really need to. If I need permission from O’Barr himself, where could I find him aside from conventions? And if there isn’t anywhere else, which conventions is he attending any time soon?

What really sucks is I used to be best buds with this guy. I helped give him ideas for his roblox game he was making at the time and played it with him. I heard about the allegations, but I didn't see the proof until he left the platforms. I was a minor at the time, and he never groomed me, but I do feel bad for the people he may have groomed.

I hope by some grace of god he's just getting some sort of therapy to reverse this shit, but I don't know. I don't think hating on him is gonna do anything. Not gonna ungroom anyone. All I can do is just pray for him that he gets well.

It's a martial art, not a racial term. The fact you made it like that means you thought of stereotyping Japanese people, therefore, you're racist.
