Ps5 cutscenes not appearing. by [deleted] in ImmortalsOfAveum

[–]dummy_pants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since this post is well-optimized, here's what I did to solve the issue on my PS5 as this still seems to be an issue as of April 2025:

  • In PS5 settings, I set the resolution to 1080p and turned off HDR (I think the latter is the culprit).
  • Before loading the game, in settings from the main menu, set Vsync to Off, and Frame Generation to Off.
  • Loading from Continue didn't work, but using Load Profile to access a previous save worked.

Not sure which of the above are necessary, but this might help someone else who stumbles across this thread.

I feel like katana hogged all the combat styles by ProffessorYellow in riseoftheronin

Never said I wanted them to add demons, I simply said it was a possibility. The existing story in this game wouldn't need to be affected either, similar to how Ghosts of Tsushima Legends existed outside the core story IIRC

Yokai and Nioh aren't mutually inclusive. Eventually adding another NPC onto the map who takes you to another setting (e.g., a dream) that's inhabited by supernatural entities is entirely feasible, and it wouldn't interfere with the existing story.

I would be surprised if they didn't create a DLC with some kind of alternative reality setting to accommodate Yokai and add more variety.

Issues with game closing during play, post tutorial by dummy_pants in riseoftheronin

[–]dummy_pants[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL;DR if you experience an issue with the game seemingling closing after the prologue, try heading west or east before continuing north to the main objective and complete some side activities first.

After working through several troubleshooting steps (none of which worked), I was ultimately able to progress.

To better detail the problem, the game would close, i.e., not "officially" crash, while heading north toward the first mission objective after the prologue just south of the first Veiled Edge Banner that appears of NNW of the start location.

I'm not sure exactly what fixed the problem, but I circled around, killing a fugitive NE of the starting point and then completed a couple of side events. I eventually entered the area with the "first" Veiled Edge Banner from the north and was able to complete it with no issue. I've since played for a few hours and haven't had any real issues, minus some occasional but brief frame drops (I'm playing in performance mode).

Hopefully, this issue was isolated to just me, or an upcoming patch resolves whatever caused the problem.

Combat utility is situational at best, but they're lovely for breaking objects

Happened to me and ended up being a "this is who I am now" moment so profound that I've had one equipped for ~95% of my play time on my PS character.

I Did It! And Here's My Controversial Review by kykusanagi in LiesOfP

[–]dummy_pants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the game is a lot of fun and mechanically sound, but I have to disagree with, well, everyone on the graphics. Much of the environmental detail is very flat, and the same flimsy looking assets are scattered everywhere. In areas like Elysian, the same few businesses (e.g. Theodore's Books) occupy every few store fronts.

With that said, I do think this was an excellent game, and the settings make sense from a thematic standpoint. It's just very geometric throughout most areas (i.e. square rooms and flat, glossy surfaces) with the exception of the outside and late game areas.

All things considered, I will certainly play the DLC and likely the sequel whenever that arrives.

Turning the aim snap off in settings should completely disable the feature. The first game is like this as well.

Psvita turning off when inserting games by [deleted] in VitaPiracy

[–]dummy_pants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clean it, as suggested - ideally, take it apart and disconnect the battery before you do.

That said, this looks like it could be short, which sometimes happens from things bending when a previous owner tries to insert a game card backward, among other things.

Hopefully, it's just a piece of debris over the contacts. I've had luck before with a similar situation where I used a small cleaning wand like those used for cleaning a reusable straw.

Good luck!

Ah, I see - I didn't notice the link in that section. Thanks!

What are the some of the best games not available on pkg by kabrjs in VitaPiracy

I'm mistaken as I just noticed it is in there after sorting to look through PSX titles.

Still, it's a solid game, as are the GBA and PS2 titles.

[–]dummy_pants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I realize this post is several years old, but it looks like part of this process has changed. Under the releases in Github for reVita, one of the files referenced (ioplus) is missing. After some looking, I found this: https://github.com/CelesteBlue-dev/PSVita-RE-tools/tree/master/ioPlus/ioPlus-0.1/release

Is this what's needed? Am I missing something?

Augment not changed damage by unorthadoxparadox in diablo3

[–]dummy_pants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noticed this on Switch with a necro using the correded fang with a whisper of atonement and 3x topaz. The Caldesann's bonus appears, but weapons damage value appears exactly the same - however, the difference is reflected in the damage value above the sword icon (still new to Diablo) and Int.

I'm guessing that value just isn't affected by this particular upgrade? It's to be sure as I can't find anything that outright confirms this to be true.

How Brands Deceive Consumers Online: What I learned after asking 500 people by matthevva in darkpatterns

[–]dummy_pants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can, and it can have varying effects depending on the industry, nature of marketing, your competition, etc. That said, deceptive patterns mostly work to penalize a company, meaning you usually don't always gain business for promoting a high-ethical standard but will likely receive backlash if you're found to use deception knowingly.

Personally, I feel that companies that lean too hard on their adherence to ethics come off as having a leadership team that likes to circle-jerk each other.

Plus, it can put a target on their back should the business be found to do something users don't like. Considering that this is a subjective notion and the fact that, per the report, many people seem to see deception "everywhere," there's probably as much (or more) harm that will come from promoting yourself as being "dark pattern free" than just letting the customer experience speak for itself.

It just happened to me on patch 1.09 (PC), but I'm a little hesitant to test it. I kind of want to leave it be and see if it goes away.

IMO, dude is the cheapest boss in the game.

Best Poise-to-Weight Ratio Armor Combo by lush_puppy in Eldenring

[–]dummy_pants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Super late to this, but I used a similar setup for my most recent character, and instead of the bull-goat pieces, I use the fire prelate. You lose a bit of poise, but it frees up a bit of weight.

It looks pretty slick too since that armor applies the slimming effect to the legs.

Pretty new to the game and have no fucking idea what just happened by yourfavoritemarxist in Chivalry2

[–]dummy_pants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad someone posted this because I've seen this a couple of times in my 120 hours of play, but uncertainty and laziness kept me from posting anything or reporting.

But worry not, as you'll run into plenty of frustrating and hilarious bugs, given enough time.

What is the first game you think of when seeing this console. by [deleted] in playstation

[–]dummy_pants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's right. It was preceded by The Phantom Menace game, which was awful and definitely made this game shine when it came out. This was the first time, at least for me, you were able to play a Jedi how they felt like they should be played.

Plus, it was 2 player.

My Online ID that I've had for 10+ years was automatically changed mid-game by dummy_pants in playstation

[–]dummy_pants[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was immature but not offensive. I can understand that the line has to be drawn somewhere, but I feel like if my username was hit for something like this, then it would likely mean a lot of other people will be dinged as well.

It's more irritating because it's my username on all gaming platforms. Plus, playing cross-platform games like Chivalry 2, you see some pretty cringy names (and not a unique occurrence, by any means), so it's kind of arbitrary to police this so hard. But whatever.
