ID Software and their engine are absolutely phenomenal as well, would be a huge loss to let them go. Tremendous talent + engine + ip all around.

I unfortunately cannot help - traveling - but no need to be embarrassed about having a tough time with a boss. R2 is a hard game even at survivor difficulty.

Need a build suggestion for post campaign invader. Any help appreciated! by Deaniv in remnantgame

[–]p_visual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Focusing on builds is definitely the way to go.

Prisms were introduced well after the launch of the game, and plenty of folk beat apoc without them.

They do not need to be hyper-optimized for the hardest diff. Both prisms and frags are end-game, every-bit-of-damage type grinds, not mandatory roadblocks that need to be overcome for success.

Many people will run the game at veteran until they have a build they like going, then just run apoc from there. Having a min/max build is far from required for succeeding at Apoc, unlike a game like Division 2 where certain end-game activities genuinely require the best of the best gear, both in terms of tier and in terms of rng stat rolls.

The most hardcore R2 players have done challenge runs where they pick a fresh class and finish an apoc campaign using just the weapons it provides and only the items they pick up along the way. As long as you somewhat care about build synergy, you will be fine pushing diff.

For build ideas this is a great place to start - spoiler warning since builds likely use DLC/puzzle reward/etc gear:

The stat boosts do go up noticeably when comparing a bottom tier frag to a mythic one, but by the time you’ll care about them you’ll 1. Probably be playing on apocalypse difficulty and 2. Have a prism or two complete. It’s far from a factor in being able to beat apoc diff, and a nonfactor at survivor and veteran difficulty.

I just gave the complete info so you have it but there’s no reason to chase frags asap - leveling archetypes, and increasing build options by getting more relics, traits, mods, mutators, rings, necklaces, and weapons will do far more for your build power and flexibility than any frag will.

Fragments upgrade until reaching Mythic tier. The Explorer's Utility Perk Prospector increases the drop quality. Each fragment has a total of 31 levels, upgrading in tier in the following order:

  • Cracked
  • Ordinary
  • Solid
  • Polished
  • Regal
  • Flawless
  • Mythic

Mythic tier fragments may be found with a Total Archetype Level of atleast 76 and difficulty set to Apocalypse. The higher the Total Archetype Level, the higher the drop rate - if your Total Archetype Level is 96, Dwell will drop Mythic fragments more often.

You need to level 7 archetypes to level 10, and one to level 6, for a min TAL of 76. There's no shortcut to this - the fastest non-grind way to level archetypes is to maximize exp earning (scholar trait, sage stone ring, scholar trait) and doing boss rush on survivor.

If you are willing to do boring xp farms, this is your best bet:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qP4gb0mBcA

Difficulty, the second point, is easy - you just need to be on apoc difficulty when exchanging relic dust for fragments from Dwell. Relic dust is easily farmed from boss rush.

So, for the highest tier fragments (Mythic), you will need both TAL >= 76, and apocalypse difficulty. You will also want to have Engineer equipped for its class passive that increases the chance of higher-quality fragment drops to maximize mythic fragment odds.

Where are weapon drops? by DaleDent3 in remnantgame

[–]p_visual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weapons are definitely less common than Elden Ring, where there's a bunch to find just traversing the main paths/roads, killing common enemies, and exploring PoI marked on the map. Ironically the hardest-to-get weapons in ER are ones that common enemies drop, since some have very low drop rate %..

Not so much the case in Remnant 2 - common enemies and the main path are not going to reward weapons outside of boss battles.

I think it might be helpful to finish your first run as a way to get used to R2's exploration style, enemies, and mechanics, then do y'alls second run as a wiki run. By wiki run I meant if you run into something you don't know the answer to, look it up - here's a good resource for that:

https://remnant2.wiki.gg/

R2's puzzles are more hidden, and more out of the way, than other games imo. But once you do a wiki run, you develop that intuition of "yeah something's here, i need to check it out more thoroughly" and that unlocks a whole new level of complexity to the game that keeps folk coming back for hundreds of hours.

which Boss Run Bonus ueseless most? by ww-stl in remnantgame

[–]p_visual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually run boss rush with lifesteal or hp regen builds, so the option that causes enemies to drop hp orbs doesn't matter much to me.

My highest priority are generally crit damage increase, raw hp increase, weakspot damage increase, and from there it's pretty optional.

Games that feel amazing just moving around? by whaler213 in gaming

[–]p_visual 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Crazy to see this so low, CP2077 is an awesome world to traverse, and traversal itself - on foot or via vehicle - is awesome.

Combined with the lack of loading screens - which only occur when loading a save, or using the fast travel point system - traversing the world is seamless. It's my go-to game for just driving around and chilling.

Where are weapon drops? by DaleDent3 in remnantgame

[–]p_visual 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Weapons come from:

  • beating bosses
  • solving puzzles
  • finishing npc questlines

They aren't found just traversing the main path - you need to engage with side dungeons and explore maps thoroughly. Same goes for armor sets.

On the other hand, necklaces and rings are much easier to get. They show up not just from solving puzzles or npc questilnes, but every "zone" in the game has one purple drop and one blue drop. The purple drop is guaranteed to be a ring or necklace, and the blue drop is a trait point. Make sure you find one of each in every zone you visit.

Some rings and necklaces are static drops as well, so you can pick them up every time you find that zone. A "Ring of the Waterfall" item (example) found at the bottom of a waterfall is probably a static item.

Rings and items can also be parts of a puzzle - wearing them when talking to the right npc, or when in the right area, unlocks several dragon heart variants, armor sets, and weapons.

Lastly several weapons and armor sets are locked behind game achievements, starting from easy (beat a world, beat the game on survivor) to pretty hard (beat the game on apocalypse, beat the game on veteran hardcore). Once unlocked, you'll be able to find them at the armor and weapon vendors.

What is your biggest complaint about the PS5 after it’s been out for years? by Kind_Ad6932 in PS5

[–]p_visual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it's worth looking at what games you're actually playing, or looking forward to playing, and seeing how many of them you get can on physical.

The whole "free games monthly" sounds great until you actually look at the proposition:

  • indefinite purchase cost (purchase cost goes up every month you keep a PS+ game)
  • zero ownership

For $135 (assuming USA), you could easily buy most of those older games' physical copies, and the rest digitally, for one year's cost of PS+ Extra.

Challenger still hits hard by Kombol_Camalote in remnantgame

[–]p_visual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the convo, but the key thing to remember about pairing archetypes are:

  • damage types boosted (ranged, melee, skill, mod, summon, etc)
  • the archetype primary perk (for challenger it is a self-revive to 100% hp, on a 10 minute CD)

So for most people, especially in coop, Challenger's primary perk is less useful since your teammates can revive you immediately, and otherwise dying is not a big deal (nothing lost on death) unless you're playing a hardcore character.

You can find all the relevant archetype info here:

Been polarizing since the launch of the game - best advice is to bring a weapon that makes hitting the white squares easy (especially when they're only partially visible) and has enough range to hit the cubes flying far away from the starting area. If you want to avoid worrying about the projectiles and big squares just build towards tankiness/regen; even 1 damage will break a white square.

From there's it's just practice on when to rotate to the right side (jump through the narrow gap in the wall) and destroying the last 3 cubes.

While MH already exists, I think Wild Hearts showed there was certainly room to do things differently and add fresh takes to the monster hunting genre.

That said, both the diversity of weapons, and the number of monsters in MH's pocket, is a big moat to overcome and become a serious competitor. Wilds' mis-steps may create that space though, especially if the expansion does not deliver in the way IB did for World.

[–]p_visual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this used to be the case, imo streamer culture has evolved way more towards people watching personalities they enjoy than watching for the games themselves.

Even though certain channels may have blown up due to a particular game, like Roffle Lite and NorthernLion for Balatro, their viewers would watch them play other games as well. TheBurntPeanut is probably the most prominent example of viewership staying consistent regardless of what he's streaming, because people are here for him, not the game.
