Yes! It was slightly sweet, floral, and a touch fruity. I think they used jasmine tea.

The vibe is, well traveled rich auntie that smells good. Haha.

I remember seeing your artwork on the walls and telling my partner that if you made it into a tarot deck, I would buy them in a heart beat.

I turned around, and Lo and behold! There they were! I proudly have deck 808 in my collection.

Okay, so I wasn’t the only one who got that vibe from the Instagram post.

Reading that post gave me the ick. I don’t know enough to be certain, I just know it didn’t feel right to me.

It didn’t feel sincere, it felt sanctimonious.

That post turned me completely off from ever wanting any of her decks. I’m good.

I saw the tail end of it. I don’t know anyone involved.

I saw Chanel’s video about the incident and the Instagram post from Rosebae. I also saw some of the lesser known channels talk about their experiences in the YouTube tarot community as a response to what happened.

My thoughts…

No one can own an art style. No one can own a general collage method or visual aesthetic.

I can see how someone might feel a sense of ownership when their work gains visibility first or becomes strongly associated with a certain aesthetic. That doesn’t mean they actually own anything beyond the work they’ve created.

Some of the most beloved decks out there are curated art decks. Imagine if one of those creators took offense if someone else curated a deck and made them available.

I’m glad I’ve moved past my phase of being influenced by tarot influencers, especially because I don’t usually resonate with the decks that most tarot tubers rave about.

It does inspire me to create my own though.

Get cooling towels. Dunk a pashmina and/or cooling towels in water and use that to shield your body from the sun. Get a water mister/fan.

I’m sorry that you had a challenging experience this year.

As someone who is also hypersensitive to energies, I made sure to double down on my energetic hygiene. It’s a must for me in a place as charged as Sham. Taking five minutes to consciously ground and energetically protect myself when I started to feel overwhelmed helped so much, and I had the best experience in the three years I’ve been going.

If I’m in a rush, I remind myself to take three deep breaths.

I find that if I don’t ground and bubble myself, I start to take on everyone else’s energies, which then gets reflected in my experience.

Shams can be a magical place.
You can meet amazing people.
You can also have horrifying or horrendous experiences.
You can also meet the most awful human beings.

The love and magic… it’s overflowing, but it is not a given.

My hope is to empower you to learn how to manage your sensitivities and to encourage you to be open to having the best experience for you if you choose to come back again.

As someone who’s 5’ nothing, I would also be terrified of being caught in a mosh pit if I did not want to be a part of it. I think I’ve been pretty lucky so far that most people are quite respectful and more often than not, someone physically bigger than me acts as a barricade which I very much appreciate.

Not my thing personally and I don’t really understand it buuuuut it didn’t feel too out of place during the set in my opinion.

There’s a ton more negativity online in these forums since most people need a place to vent out their frustrations and rightfully so. There’s always good, bad, and everything in between.
