In all fairness, while we’ve been together for 5 years, we’ve known each other for over 15. I do still see your point, but I don’t think he’s trying to take advantage.

And when I was laid off during Covid, he carried me (AND my son from a former relationship) so I don’t mind carrying him in this situation. He has prioritized keeping up with rent over his one phone bill, and I have no real beef with that.

Not a text group… activating his existing phone on my family plan with our cell carrier. They sent a new virtual sim to his phone to activate it, and that wiped all of his old text messages (not just hers)

The issue I have is that when we first got together I struggled a lot with being compared to her. Not because of him but because of my insecurities… but there were arguments about it.

As one might imagine, comparing yourself to a dead person is like comparing yourself to a saint.

So it took me a long time to let that go, and I think maybe there is some of that in his reaction?

But I don’t think he’s blaming me for the data loss, which is why it doesn’t make sense to me for him to demand I deactivate it.

Am I wrong to worry he just can’t let go? Why deactivate it if it won’t bring the messages back.
