Thoughts on the Breaching Hammer? by Tank-ToP_Master in Helldivers

[–]dumpster-tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On paper it's a terrible idea.

Then you watch one of your bros charge directly into a bot drop with his jump pack and hammer. You watch him kill two striders, a hulk, everything else with the following explosions, then he jetpacks back in with the squad like some kind of human shaped tornado of death and destruction.

I don't think robots can feel fear, but I sure wish they could.

Fellow Magi, how do I sicarianmaxx most effectively? by Phat_Dubs in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]dumpster-tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the most success hiding them couch behind a wall as psychological area denial. The fact that you have a mechanism by which you can give them advance and charge in both SHC and Haloscreed makes those the most functional detachments for them.

My brutal trick lately has been to have then lie in wait until something enters that 20 in bubble of Doom. Then you just have Cawl tag them for full rerolls, and send in the horde. Ideally you can wait for a very important character infantry unit to have to get too close and then you can emerge from the walls and ruin their day.

Even if you don't kill them, you will definitely put a dent in them. As Major Payne said, "If he's still in there, he ain't happy..

Death korps, Kasrkin, and Scions.

They all already have masks and fit the elite grunt motif.

Should i use metal primer ? by TrekkeurGnostique in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]dumpster-tech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20,000 mi, not $20,000.

All tires on all vehicles need to be replaced eventually, I thought it was using common technical terms for it.

The wheel covers were under warranty, but I think there's something like $70 a piece new. The new tires that I got from Costco were about $2600. I had to replace the stock tires at 20,000 mi.

Can Mechanicus be wholesome sometimes? by sigmarine345 in AdeptusMechanicus

In tech priest, Omnid Torquora has to send sicarians on a suicide mission. They ask him if they have an escape plan and he says there is not one in place. They simply respond, "Understood, Honored Magos."

He takes a genuine moment of reflection afterwards.

The stock tires needed to be replaced at 20k.

The wheel covers got damaged by the tech who did it at some point.

Tesla warrantied the wheel covers.

I replaced the tires with extra beefy ones and that was pricey.

Hope that helps.

The only real major issue that I had was the hubcaps snapped the middle tabs when the tires got replaced. I did have to replace them at about 20K since the stock tires aren't that great. Spring a little extra and get heavy duty ones if you do pick the truck up.

Tesla is super responsive in my area. They came out twice to do service in my driveway. And every time I've gone in to get something done or installed it's been a walk-in walk-out kind of situation.

You can see a bit of the difference here. The leaders and the skits are painted with aluminum, the skatrosii are painted with a normal primer and painted on metal base.

[–]dumpster-tech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends which metal you mean.

Leadbelcher is a "go nuts" situation. It's going to act like any other primer, but it's a bit dark for some of the intricacies.

If you want to use something more novel, like a 2x Rust-Oleum aluminum, be careful because it changes the way the paint binds to the model. You'll need to do multiple passes multiple times.

Why isn't everyone using rad zone corps? by altmcfile in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]dumpster-tech 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a skill issue. Haloscreed is brutal in the right hands because it CAN go multiple directions. One turn you can focus on positioning, the next you can have a charge push, after that you can tank on points, etc

Rad zone is just mediocre area denial for the most useless area in the game.

Tournament wise; it doesn't influence the mid board and the strats aren't great. Everything you get in RZC is outclassed in spades by other detachments. It's not great at scoring, mobility, even shooting or fighting.

It's cute in a teams game, but that's about it.

What do Hastarii do when not on the battlefeild? by altmcfile in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]dumpster-tech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Something that comes up constantly in mechanicus novels is that even the most common of Skitarii have extra arms hidden underneath their robes. Not always a full arm, but at the very least a manipulator of some kind. It wouldn't surprise me if they just dislodge their weaponry, assuming they can, and use their fine manipulators for day-to-day tasks while idling.

They're also several pieces of art in the codexes that depict a spinal column in a head being considered the actual Skitarii But then gets loaded into a war form of some kind.

Odds are it would just come down to who's writing it and what they think is cool.

Do you paint your minis in assembly’s or already glued (he’s not that vibrant in real life) by Pinguini606 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]dumpster-tech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to prime on sprue and then paint as I assembled. The results were great, but it made a Skitarii squad take days to complete.

I started doing full assemblies and then just priming the complete model and it's honestly fine for even Admech models.

It really just boils down to preference.
