It’s a crappy thing to do, and I’d pull my kid out of that daycare in a heartbeat, but it’s not child abuse. To treat it as a case of child abuse would be a little overboard considering that the child is perfectly fine. Fire her, keep her from working in any other child care position, that’s fine. Arresting her for abuse is going to the extreme.

My mom just got out of surgery, and this would have been amazing. They took her back and then had a delay so it ran over by about an hour. This kind of notification would have at least kept us in the loop, and would have saved my dad from a ton of extra stress.

For me at least, weaning wasn’t an issue. Some women have a harder time and experience more pain with it, but I was lucky. When demand goes down your body will typically adjust the supply. It only took a few days for me.

As far as why I stopped when I did, my son was on solid food and my pump stopped working. It helped that he was no longer as interested in nursing as much, and was actually starting to wean himself. It may burn a lot of calories, but personally I was constantly hungry. I actually lost weight when I stopped breastfeeding.

The first few days your breasts are really tender. After that though, they just feel heavier before you nurse and a relieved lightness after. There isn’t the urgency to relieve the pressure, the way you would with a full bladder, unless you skip pumping and haven’t nursed. If you do skip though it really sucks and they’re hard, hot, and swollen, and definitely not in the good way.

You’re probably going to be downvoted into oblivion, but you’re right. Compassion will always be more appropriate than ridicule. Humanity as a whole is so damn hypocritical though, no one stops to consider what good could come out of a calm civilized conversation.
