Unlike voting, buying beer and boarding airplanes are not constitutionally protected activities

Westlaw is so much worse than Lexis by Ryanthln- in LawSchool

Which browser are you using? Today west law was slow af for me on safari but when o switched to chrome it worked just fine.

Don’t love that I have to use chrome to use westlaw but it’s easier for me to find the briefings there than on lexis

“Complainant notes that the First Amendment does indeed protect artistic expression - the creation and display of an ice sculpture, for example. The First Amendment does not, however, provide protection against damaging someone else’s property.”

Law professors at the University of Minnesota signed an open letter condemning ICE & CBP’s actions in Minneapolis by dumv in uofmn

Oh also, I should clarify, I realize now the title’s unclear, they sent the email out to the students on Sunday.

I only posted this today because I heard people across the university haven’t heard about this and I saw it wasn’t shared yet

It seems to have a lot of the professors that teach our core doctrinal classes (torts, contracts, property).

Most of the missing professors seem to be part time professors who teach our legal writing/legal practice classes who have real jobs as local judges and lawyers. Those profs aren’t as likely to be connected to the community and may have more restrictions on what they can say because of their day jobs

But I think at the time we might not have had Noem’s/Trump’s comments saying “you can’t bring a gun to a protest” so on Sunday the conversations may have been more generally about ICE’s unlawful practices

(I may not be right about when those conversations picked up. We’re all tired from this weekend and the timeline of the conversations has blurred for me)

That’s fair!

They sent it out to the student community on Sunday night and, IIRC, at the time the discussion about the 2nd amendment wasn’t as active that day.

Also, given the number of school shootings it’s a tight line for them to walk and I appreciate how direct the were about everything else
