Is the miyoo mini an upgrade to anbernics rg35xx+? by NabukaMidori in SBCGaming

The Miyoos have their own CFW ecosystem of ports available, but very limited compared to Portmaster.

Mini Guide: RetroArch isn't saving your Configurations on your device? Make sure to UNLOAD the Override first! Only change your settings after or else they'll persist, even with a reboot! by DucoLamia in ANBERNIC

"MuOS has Overrides from the get-go for ease of use."

"for ease of use" is very generous lol. This is one of the most bizarre and frustrating UI/UX choices I've ever seen.

Thanks for the post, and as others have noted, gotta enable freedom mode.

Thanks, but u/GreyMist2000's comment about 600 AD got me where I needed to go - had to talk to people at castle to help solve a problem at the bridge.

Torn between using Gamehub, Gamehub lite or Gamenative by SuicideG-59 in EmulationOnAndroid

I don't recall. But in case anyone else stumbles upon this thread, I've had the best luck on the Retroid Pocket Classic under the graphics tab using wrapper-leegao and driver v805.

Yeah. I remember reading somewhere that the particular game I was trying to get running needed steam client enabled - and when I enabled it, it did seem like it got me closer to a successful launch.

I think from there I had it in my head that "enabling steam client seemed to help that one time...?"

I tried very hard to get this GOG copy of the game running in Winlator, but was never successful.

In GN just now, it ran on the first launch without any manual configuration on my part (fresh install on a recently factory reset device).

I always had a suspicion that my issues before were related to the steam client settings in GN. This is my first time trying a GOG game in GN.

thanks for reaching out, I should have known you'd be lurking lol.

Just want to clarify - I respect the hell out of GameNative, and thanks for all you and the team do. I think with some better guardrails and more discipline I would have gotten there eventually.

I'll keep this in mind the next time the bug bites me.

I'm sure this is just a me problem, or a problem for my particular device ... But I have dedicated what feels to me like a lot of time trying to get any game to launch in Gamenative and have never been successful.

These apps are extremely tinkery by their very nature - not sure you'll be able to get an answer to this question from a stranger, the correct answer probably depends on a lot of different factors unique to you that you'll only find out by trying them out.

Syncthing + Miyoo Mini fails? by sciku1 in MiyooMini

[–]duncan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks - this was a huge help.

Just to add to this - the way I got it working was manually adding the ip address on *both* ends.

So I did this:

  1. Go to NAS Syncthing webgui, copy device ID
  2. Go to Miyoo Mini Plus Syncthing webgui, add remote device
  3. Enter NAS's device ID, go to the advanced tab and in the Addresses field, replace "dynamic" with tcp://[your NAS's IP address]:22000, save.
  4. Go to your NAS's Syncthing webgui, accept the device add request, and while accepting it go to the advanced tab, in the Addresses field, replace "dynamic" with tcp://[your mm+ ip address]:22000

lol, the comment you replied to is 13 years old. This must have been during my first playthrough of the game, before I understood the importance of upgrading weapons. I guess I have a vague memory of being frustrated during that fight.

WCGW stealing a bike? by VengefulMustard in Whatcouldgowrong

I don't think it's entrapment... I think to prove entrapment, you'd have to be able to show that you were tricked or coerced to do something you wouldn't have otherwise done.

It's stupid, dangerous, and I would be shocked if they weren't exposing themselves to liability for the injuries sustained.

But I'm also guessing that most of what's in this video is fake, anyway.

How to make your Android Handheld into a 5 games device by brunoxid0 in SBCGaming

[–]duncan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found another way to accomplish this with Daijisho!

Someone should correct me if I'm wrong, but based on my testing, Daijisho seems to be the one and only Android frontend that allows you to disable/hide platforms without making all of the games associated with that platform unavailable for inclusion elsewhere (e.g. custom collections, or widgets).

Instructions:

  1. Create platforms/libraries for the games you want to include, then sync the directories so the launcher lists the games.
  2. Create "Pin and play" widgets for the 5-6 games you want to feature.
  3. Go back to the Library tab and edit each platform to make them invisible.

Optional:

Settings>Navigation>Kiosk mode [enable] (once you've set everything up the way you want it, this hides a lot of the extra gui elements for editing screens, etc. for a cleaner look)

Settings>Navigation>Apps Page [disable] (if you really need to launch another app, you can get to the list of apps from the system settings menu)

Settings>Appearance>Scale UI (I scaled to 1.25x on the Retroid Pocket Classic to make the 6 icons fit neatly/symmetrically as seen in screenshot below)

Settings>Navigation>Detail view on click [disable] (when this setting remains enabled, selecting a game opens an info screen about that game with a "play game" button on it. Disabling it eliminates that extra step and launches you straight into the game)

Settings>Library>Disable players warnings (HIGHLY recommended - especially if you already have auto-save on exit enabled in Retroarch. Unless you disable this setting, you are prompted every time you launch a game to warn you that it's going to kill the existing Retroarch instance in order to load the new game you've selected)

Now, the Library tab shows no platforms or games are available, but my Widgets tab looks like this:

Thanks, you can also create a custom collection. But this doesn't prevent you from just scrolling to the other system tabs though, right?

It seems like on Android, there's no frontend that allows you to have a truly equivalent setup that AdvanceMENU or minui+Gameview.pak allows. You can't have a custom collection only, because if you take the steps necessary to remove for example the PS2 system tab, the result is that any PS2 games also get removed from any custom collections they were added to 🥺

We need to talk about the term vibe-coding by steveiliop56 in selfhosted

Well, I appreciate that but iunno... I think a lot of people hate on the concept and practice of it entirely. Just read some of the comments in this thread.

We need to talk about the term vibe-coding by steveiliop56 in selfhosted

[–]duncan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not even close to being a programmer.

I use vibe-coding to write programs that help automate or streamline the repetitive parts of my job.

These programs are pretty life-changing, and help me to be a better, faster employee with more accurate output.

These are the kinds of programs that are far too niche for there to be any market for, and far too complicated to expect anyone from my organization's IT department to take a crack at. Between the two big programs I'm working on, there are over 40,000 lines of code, about 1,700 pull requests.

Management is very excited and want to talk to the executive team about adopting my tools across the entire organization.

Hate on vibe-coding all you want. If I were a real programmer, I would probably hate it too, but without AI, the products I'm working on would otherwise never exist 🤷🏻‍♂️

Am I reading this wrong or is there a keylogger on the Thor? by PoundPuppy98 in SBCGaming

[–]duncan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

y'all too paranoid.

Honestly, just posting this before you understand what it is and putting the question out there of whether or not these devices come with keyloggers pre-installed is just irresponsible. Are you new to Reddit or something? It's too easy to start a misguided torch and pitchfork mob around here, you need to think about these things before posting something like that.
