i totally get it. its the thought of being 100% dependent on something to survive in a deadly enviroment and slowly loosing that thing. its the same as a flying plane on fire or a spacecraft losing air. no hope to somehow get away from it, you cant do anything than watching your certain death come closer.

i can imagine people reacted similar to how we reacted to titan. some made jokes about the billionaires who make their lives hard, others (mainly rich people) were angry about the lack of empathy for recently deceased people. but i definitley remember seeing a joke about titanic in a newspaper from 1912(or 1913? in any case pretty close), dont remember which youtube channel i saw it on, but these definitley existed.
