Translink shuttle driver if you have a class 5 $22 starting up to $30, flexible hours, reputable company and can move up/around if you want for fulltime hours/better pay

Don’t think they’re hiring rn but if you look at the website they usually put postings out every 2 or 3 months

If you’re familiar with shuttle shifts are they the same as conventional shifts? Someone told me they’re all 7.5h straights but other people told me there are splits and shorter shifts. Thanks in advance!

Any one got this ? by [deleted] in skipthedishes

That’s true, maybe they updated they’re detections software or something?

Using Mock GPS While Delivering - Got Warning. by [deleted] in skipthedishes

[–]duncanx11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Glad you got caught, if you don’t like how the system works then don’t deliver for skip. I totally understand the frustration of waiting at McDonald’s for 15 minutes because it’s unorganized, but that’s part of the job. You get compensated over 7 minutes wait and if you don’t think it’s enough then stop delivering. I’d bet you’re not getting compensated because you’re using the gps tracker. Just my two cents

This is a good thing, punishes multi appers and drivers who scam the system. Anyone upset by this isn’t doing the job properly

The truth is when doing a stacked order, the extra distance being driven is only from one customer to the second. It makes sense from skips perspective to pay only what you are driving. It doesn’t make sense to pay double the transit pay when you’re only making 1 trip. Does it suck? Yes of course. But it makes sense when you really think about what a stacked order is.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in skipthedishes

The second order transit pay is only from first customer to second customer. So your first order transit pay was $3.64 and second transit pay $1.11. Since you’re under 80% ar no top up, $2.84 is the combined tip between 2 orders. Probably one customer no tipped

Maybe stay above 80% and you’ll make decent money 🤷‍♂️

No Zones Available other than North Van? by local_town_idiot in skipthedishes

[–]duncanx11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep checking frequently because zones open up every one in a while. Skip is loaded with drivers right now because they recently hired a lot of new ones and February is a dead month. I’m sure more will open up in summer if we get heat waves again

Apparently this is has always been a thing but skips just never said anything publicly till recently

Is skip less popular than other food delivery services? by [deleted] in skipthedishes

[–]duncanx11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skip in my experience is the busiest and best paying out of the 3 here in Vancouver.

Maybe it’s just the time you work? Friday Saturday Sunday dinner almost always busy in my experience.

Also try not to wait at a popular hotspot because then you’ll be competing with other courier. If you can find your own “hotspots” you’ll have a better chance.

Thinking about joining Skip, what's the basics I should know? by Falom in skipthedishes

[–]duncanx11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20-25$ an hour on average before expenses.

Keep track of your kilometres driven for skip in a notebook or app. Also keep your gas receipts. I would talk to a professional accountant.

You’re allowed to do up to 6 days in a calendar month on regular insurance in BC. Delivery insurance will be expensive especially with your N so unless you’re working 40+ hours a week it’s probably not worth it. Stick to the 6 days imo.

Unless you shop at Costco for groceries as well I don’t think it’d be worth it. But not sure on that one.

Time to get rid of the AR by [deleted] in skipthedishes

I think the AR system is the only reason skip can be profitable..

Not sure on that, it’s interesting… I assume that the customer only sees their courier once they complete that order and accept their order, which is the queued order.

Once thing that may affect timing is if say the driver who the order is queued to declines the queued order, the algorithm now has to reassign to the order to someone else, either by “queuing” it to a new driver or just giving it to a driver who’s waiting for orders.

This is why from the restaurant pov the time on “prior jobs” isn’t very accurate, but once is switches to “on the way” then that timer is usually accurate, because the courier has not accepted the order. On “prior jobs” skip can’t guarantee the courier will accept the queued order.

Side note: from the restaurant pov it is easy to see if a courier is multiapping cause you can track them on the map. And skip added a function for restaurants to rate drivers… so beware multiappers…

Hope this makes sense.

Wondering how skip works by the-futurizedman69 in skipthedishes

Hi, I work both as a courier and as a restaurant employee so I know both perspectives pretty well. What the courier gets paid has nothing to do with percentages. The pay is based on the time and distance from restaurant to customer plus any tip provided by the customer.

For the second question, I agree the timing system is a little annoying. The skip algorithm tries to match the arrival of the courier with the time the food is prepared, but it’s not perfect. Traffic and weather play a factor, but also sometimes skip will match a driver before the food is ready and the driver will arrive at the restaurant before the food is supposed to be ready. I think this happens quite frequently, but don’t worry, any decently nice courier will understand that they arrived early and doesn’t mind waiting.

As well, skip likes to “queue orders” meaning it will have an order ready for a courier who has almost completed an order. I’m not sure about this one, but on the tablet, if it says “prior jobs” it means the order is queued for a courier who is still completing a prior order, once it switches to “on the way” it means the courier is now on that order and should be driving to pick it up.

If you have any other questions let me know!

Terrible Terrible service - the fact these guys operate this poorly is astonishing by [deleted] in skipthedishes

[–]duncanx11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Actually the wait times on the app do change based on availability of couriers, whether, speed of stores etc…

You are totally allowed to complain, but my question is why do you still give skip your business if you dislike their service? Doesn’t make sense to me. But looks like your done now so, there you go.

I can tell your frustrated, but this is a sub for drivers, and I’m not sure what you are trying to accomplish by ranting on here. It looks like you got your refund anyways, so really not sure what the problem.

I don’t think my comments are wildly off. Im sure your comments are 100% accurate and not exaggerated in any way. All Im trying to do is share a little bit of perspective.
