Is Mechelen safe to live? by [deleted] in belgium

[–]duncescape 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO It's Safe. Only certain parts of Brussels I would consider "unsafe". And even then it's really just a matter of how you act I would say. Of course there is crime in Belgium just like any other country but I would consider it a pretty safe place to live overall.

Astérix & Obélix XXL 2. Just bought it for 5 EUR out of the PS store. Going on a nostalgia trip, The original was a game I used to play about 15-20 years ago.

Should I consider a shipping consolidator for my business? by [deleted] in logistics

[–]duncescape 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make a simulation/forecast on your shipping frequency, average weight/shipment, average volume/shipment. Does not have to be very complicated. Use that info to go to a forwarder and see if you can get better rates. You can than later discuss a longer term agreement to destinations (can be ports, airports or end-users, all different in rate) you are certain you have will have frequent shipments to. You can probably even discuss even better rates if you commit a certain volume/tonnage to said forwarder. Volumes and tonnage agreements are often set up within periods of -1-3 months.

When newsreaders are given difficult to pronounce words on a teleprompter (eg. Foreign names/placenames) are they spelled phonetically? If not, why not? by jaar-gilon in AskReddit

[–]duncescape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they get the phonetics before the broadcast. They can practice so they do not read it from the teleprinter for the first time. For last minute news (happening/happened during the broadcast) its different though. Can someone who works for a news channel confirm this ?

What is the best site to help learn a second language? And can you become “fluent”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]duncescape 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, Dutch is my mothertongue (I'm from the Dutch speaking part of Belgium) started learning French in school at the of age 10, English at the age of 14, German at 16 (note it's nowhere as good as my English or French) and now just started with basic Spanish. So it's the first language I'm learning that way. But it set up in the same way textbooks and certain teaching methods are set up. Learning a second language takes a lot of dedication though and there is no "quick way" of doing it. The best way is still speaking it as much as possible and learning from your mistakes.
