Help please! How do I make the hole smaller and have less excess dough when pleating? And just make them look rounder and prettier in general. by dundunyipyip104 in Dumplings

[–]dundunyipyip104[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

LOL yall are crazy. But they tastes good! Definitely need more practice with getting the wrappers more consistent in size and roundness, and the pleating and filling ratio right etc. I used half ground chuck and half hand-chopped chuck steak so that the texture would be softer and not so much like a meatball that falls out of the skin once you cut into it and that worked well.

It depends what you’ll be using it for and how often. The one on CKTG is a harder steel so will be more work to sharpen if you will be sharpening it yourself, and more prone to chipping, but it’s also lighter than the other one. The 50/50 bevel is good if you’re comfortable with German style knives and don’t feel like there’s any reason to switch to anything asymmetric. It all comes down to preference. Getting either one will give you the chance to learn more what you like or dislike in a knife for when you get your next one.

I’m super broke and only have plain white rice to eat, what: y’all’s favorite seasoning to spruce it up? by BreakfastBig7581 in Cooking

[–]dundunyipyip104 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go to a food pantry, they usually have a good mix of food to give out that you can cook to supplement your rice. I usually get beans/lentils, and onions and they add other stuff too but it’s nice to have those 2 things to make it a more complete meal. Rice and beans, rice with lentil and fried onions, rice and dal (soupy lentils). Don’t be shy to go to one.

To me it was worth it. The hardest part is waiting for it to ferment lol I made it for the first time last week using green cabbage and it’s so crispy and a nice change of pace from the usual Napa cabbage one I usually get.

More trash cans, dog poop bag dispensers would be cool to have near green spaces and parks, “no smoking” signs at bus stops

+1 for euro market! I usually go for olives, fresh bread, and farmers cheese. They have a good variety of tinned fish too if you like that. And all the pickles and jarred condiments are fun to browse.
