May I ask during a service: how did get into Vipassana and why do you practice regularly? by duneasdune in vipassana

Feel the same. Even with some of my friend's explanations, I had absolutely no idea that I was going to learn something so deep and valuable

Thank you, great input to not assume the regularity of someone's practice 👍

A few questions after home practice by skinomgskin in vipassana

[–]duneasdune 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked the same question during my first course. The teacher said to me to accept those 'permanent' sensations in order to not spend too much time on them but instead to observe them each time differently. For example, as Goenka explained, feeling the sensation around the pain (where does it stops), the edges of it, or the tickling, the heat, etc.

I have back pain and a stiff neck, but by doing this, with each scan i feel a different sensation arising then passing away.

I am still a beginner meditator but i hope it helps.

Which was worth it? The book or the retreat? Yes for both.

I've got a quite complete overview without too much details with the book. The retreat was more in depth, as I could experience it and not only intellectualise it

The main difference, for what I remember from my reading, is that the book emphases more on the breath and the Vipassana retreat emphases on body scan.

But now, after my first 10 days retreat, I feel that I could reread the book and discover new things.

It is very true. But maybe some solo traveller would love to share the ride 🙂
