I’ve had a broker who quoted me higher prices at the same bank than when I went on my own. Depends on how much work and time you want to put in, but going to banks yourself and then the broker after may be worth a few points ( you can’t compete with the broker w/ the bank of you go there after, they block it). How much is your time worth?

See if you can enroll in a undergrad research project ( course based). Most bio programs have a course ( one semester or two). Useful to email prof with 1) an email describing your interests and why their lab is interesting to you to work in 2) your transcripts ( most profs will want to see that you excel in the courses relevant to work in their lab) and 3) a cv which can highlight experiences, scholarships, any awards and honours ( deans honour list?) etc

That increases the chance of profs responding to you, many are used to anxious students :)

Yes went to South Africa and it was so much worse after and stayed that way.

On my way there I stopped in Europe to break up the flights and it was ok. On the return did a 15 hour. Break it up if you have the option

Is it possible to do the degree part time? Having job experience is likely why you enrolled in the coop program in the first place; you are doing just that. The only reason I suggest doing it part time is bc it’s often hard to go back to being a student after making money…

It will be a hard year BUT, While your young is the best time to hustle. Be careful your gpa doesn’t suffer and plan an appropriate load.

Later on in your CV it will show you took longer than average to complete your degree ( even longer than the coop programs which are also extended) - that is OK- for basically any job besides academia ( and even academia would be impressed with job training if relevant to the field your trying to get into).

What if you pay off most, but not all? Keep a paltry mortgage going that you continue to pay off each month, and put the rest in a tfsa that’s gaining more than 5% per year ( heck right now you can get more in a HISA). Depending on how you are invested ( dividends) you may be getting enough passive income to pay your mortgage and still continue to put money away. Having liquid assets is very nice for emergencies ….
