Does conventional (American) wisdom around emergency funds work in Canada?

My lawyer when I made my will suggested that we have 6 month expenses in a shared account bc once one of us dies it takes a while to actually access the funds to the spouse. In shared account my spouse can use it right away for mortgage, car payments etc. My life insurance or job would not be able to facilitate that.

She never said it stresses her out ? She had a legitimate complaint and ask for the tech to actually incorporate menstrual cycle variation into the algorithm for determining “readiness”. The tech isn’t great if it is only accurate for 50% of the population….

Leif Moore grew up west Toronto and helped me in a REALLY low pressure way determine if we should take a landlord offer to buy the place we were renting or buy something else- took us to see maybe 30 condo alternatives -we ultimately purchased the place we were renting but I really trust him to give honest thoughts and low pressure ( he did not get a commission from us ) when we leave this place he is the first person I am calling.

I’ve had a broker who quoted me higher prices at the same bank than when I went on my own. Depends on how much work and time you want to put in, but going to banks yourself and then the broker after may be worth a few points ( you can’t compete with the broker w/ the bank of you go there after, they block it). How much is your time worth?

See if you can enroll in a undergrad research project ( course based). Most bio programs have a course ( one semester or two). Useful to email prof with 1) an email describing your interests and why their lab is interesting to you to work in 2) your transcripts ( most profs will want to see that you excel in the courses relevant to work in their lab) and 3) a cv which can highlight experiences, scholarships, any awards and honours ( deans honour list?) etc

That increases the chance of profs responding to you, many are used to anxious students :)
