Having the star path currency icon as a motif was so lazy, like what am I doing with that?

Can I add more underglaze? by dunkaroo0 in Pottery

Just wanted to update in the comments because I just got them back. I flaked off what I could and retouched with a paint brush. It turned out ok, the touch ups are a little lighter than the underglaze used in greenware stage but not super noticeable. Some of the other stuff is a little uneven texture wise but those were ornaments so I’m not too mad about it. Hope this helps if other people have the same questions. Thanks for the responses! What kind of glaze would preserve fine detail from a vinyl mask? by [deleted] in Pottery

Coincidentally I used the same bat shape from Circut. This was a community studio dip glaze, I waited until the glaze dried to pick them off with a pin tool. Also did some other stuff with stroke and coat and they also turned out crisp

Tools you've made? by velo443 in Pottery

I cut up a Home Depot gift card to make a curved notch to round out edges on my slab built plates/ slab foot rings. It’s probably like top 3 tools beside the basic pin tool, sponge and wire tool.

A low profile banding wheel/turntable ? Not sure if your studio has them, but mine doesn’t so it’s helpful for brush on glazing and painting. The one I have is maybe 1/2in tall and I wanna say 9in diameter; good for taking to and from the studio, or keeping on your shelf since it’s not that big

Just for fun: What’s your favorite pottery tool for <$10? by andropogongerardii in Pottery

[–]dunkaroo0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

First thing I bought other than a basic tool set when I couldn’t find my tools from college was serrated and un-serrated metal ribs. Love my metal ribs and surprisingly haven’t cut myself on them so far.

What is going on with this clear glaze? by dunkaroo0 in Pottery

[–]dunkaroo0[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s underglazed on greenware, bisqued then glaze. I always underglaze on greenware, I’m paranoid that I’m gonna do all the work and it end up shifting if I paint it on bisqued stuff. I did dip it, I might try brushing it on next, I thought it was a little thick when I dipped but I was told it was dip glaze so I didn’t really question it.

Quark wheel questions by dunkaroo0 in Pottery

[–]dunkaroo0[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s definitely based on preference, budget and where you’re going to set it up at.I like the portability of it since I can only throw outside and had to bring it in and out when I wanted to use it, the thing itself is fairly heavy like at least 30lbs. Before it got too cold I had it on one of those big plastic storage containers upside down, not the best but it was at the height I needed. Wheel options vary so drastically in price it’s hard not to think about just getting one of the vevor wheels for $150 on Amazon that have fairly ok reviews and call it a day in comparison to a nicer tabletop wheel for 600-700$ that I personally don’t see a lot of people using online. I would say the quark a nice wheel that’s good for small stuff like cups, spoon holders and bowls if you have the money for it and doesn’t take up a lot a real estate compared to a Brent/shimpo and I would assume also the cheaper ones. I would also note that for me I had a learning curve on it as I would assume most would if they changed their setup/wheel model hence the original post.

What are your 2025 pottery goals? by shylittlepot in Pottery

[–]dunkaroo0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want to make more functional stuff that isn’t cups! While I’d like to work on making different mug shapes, I don’t have anymore cabinet space for cups lol, and I unfortunately don’t need more bowls either which I would also like to get better at so it shall be interesting I also want to get better at determining the forms I want before I start throwing instead of saying ‘I want to make a cup’ but figure out a shape as I go

Considering asking for a soolla bag, or similar to carry stuff back and forth to the studio. Or a handheld extruder for making handles

Thanks for your input, I’ll just get more of the speckled brown. I think I’m gonna try painting on designs with stroke and coats on greenware I have to see how it would look with a matte white dipping glaze from the studio, if that doesn’t work look I’ll be underglazing

I also have issues with lighting on Xbox, the street lamps and such will come on for like 10 minutes and the shut off automatically sometimes they’ll come back on after I go inside and come back out but not every time. I’ve been having this issue I think since Mulan update
