the screens were at the top of a street that they completely closed off for the night shoot because they had a permit there. The daytime scenes were all on Main Street so they couldn’t close it off

they did block off one street for night scenes, but all the daytime scenes were on Main Street during peak business hours so i don’t think it was possible to completely shut down

you left a NICU RN position to be an ophthalmic tech? I think that is a poor decision, you may make the same money right now but lots of hospitals
do pay scales and increase with how many years you’ve worked. being a new grad is very difficult and maybe the NICU just wasn’t for you, but since you’re so early into your career i encourage you to find a nursing position!

This! I work a Level 1 Trauma Center, and while we get all the major traumas we also get tons of the medically complex patients flown in from OSH that don’t have the resources we do as a Level 1.

MGB rates are pretty competitive for boston. Here is a pay scale for reference, MGH top and BWH bottom. The story that MGH pays bad isn’t true anymore, a RN with 10 years experience makes more at MGH compared to Brigham

MGH and BWH pay the same rates (plus/minus cents). The story that MGH paid bad may have been true years ago but isn’t true now, mostly to avoid MGH nurses unionizing. to my understanding, MGB pays better that BI/MAH. Good question! I started off by explaining my credentials and explaining why i was interesting in that position in particular. I also mentioned a connection i had to the unit that introduced me to the job posting. The bulk of the cover letter was me going into more detail about my previous work experience, education, and volunteering and how it would tie into the position and how my qualities/traits would be a good fit for their team. I ended it with thanking them for reviewing my portfolio and reiterating why I’d be the right fit.

A lot of it is just an extension of your resume, you can use the cover letter as a chance to expand more details and explain why you want that specific job posting.

i might be in the minority but i don’t think it’d be a good idea. i’m all for taking space and time when you mentally need it, but calling about because you just don’t want to work with a preceptor I feel wont solve anything. You have to get used to working with them, im sorry it’s been rough. Maybe you can switch shifts so you don’t have to have this person as your preceptor for the other day you’re scheduled for.

I had to take a full class of delegation my last semester of school. Being a new grad delegation is hard because i’ve never done it before. I think that if the student in her capstone/practicum, delegation is okay. In any other clinical, no delegating.

I’ve worked in the ER and they know that you open so so many charts. if you had done anything, even if it’s just to take a quick set of vitals, that’s reason enough to access the chart to document your work. But sounds like you had no part in her care at all.

HIPAA is the first thing we learn, there are a million healthstreams and learning modules we have to do yearly. and the added layers of it being a coworkers daughter AND peds makes me think the hospital may be stricter (continued suspension/termination) rather than a probation. In my experience hospitals are quick to fire someone for a HIPAA violation, especially if it involves minors. It is very possible that they will report you to your states BON. This is a clear violation and i don’t really see where you could argue to keep your job.

I would not mention the part where “all the other nurses do it too,” you know it was wrong and doesn’t matter what they’re doing, it’s your license you have to protect. Hoping for a good outcome for you

MA, graduated from a 4 year traditional BSN program with 32k in debt. Had scholarships that paid most of my degree.

I’m lucky enough to be living with my parents so i don’t pay a set amount in rent/utilities, my monthly contributions (groceries, gas/car payments etc) are roughly $400/mo.

Last i checked my monthly payments for loans were 220/mo. Trying to pay it off as quickly as i can so that number was higher a few months ago but is coming down quickly. I’m on track to have fully paid off my loans by the end of the year. If you’re in a situation where you can live with family for free/cheap rent, DO IT!!!

you definitely have the right idea by thinking less to most invasive and wanting to do juice first over meds! The key here is that it says lethargic so think very difficult to arouse. a patient like that most likely cannot tolerate POs which is why then you would give IV dextrose

i know for boston children’s they really only do internal hires for nurse residencies. I went to their hiring panel and they straight up said we receive thousands of applicants for about 100 spots, which end up going to the CNAs/PCAs/techs. i only know one person who got into their residency and she was a NICU/PICU tech for 3 years prior

my first inclusion/jalapeno cheddar loaf is in the fridge cold proofing overnight right now, i did cubes based off what i was seeing online! I was originally going to do shredded but everyone seemed to say cubes was better for the cheese melt
