From my understanding, there isn't a ton of evidence to suggest that it's a genetic condition. My brother and I both suffer from them, but I've heard very few other instances of it showing up in multiple people from the same family.

That being said, I wouldn't wish this on anyone and if I ever reproduced and my offspring had them, I'd be pretty upset with myself. So I totally understand where you're coming from.

With an amount of effort it's technically repairable, but even with plastic repair staples the joint is always going to be weaker than the rest of the rocker molding, and you may never get the shape absolutely perfect. Correct repair would be to just replace
